I'm going to mark this for now but I'm still determining if I should just buy my own bowflex or something.

I bought this the last time they had it...great deal works out to about $12 a month and the certificate never expires, I still haven't cancelled my membership and activated this but I am this month. I didn't want to cancel it b/c i'm only paying $24 now and never paid a cent for activation, etc, and didn't want to get stuck 2 years down the line with a worse deal as $24 flat is solid for me.

But i'm gonna activate it and just ride out the next 2 years on the house since I paid for my certificate months ago when Costco had this same deal. They shipped it really quickly and I received it in 2 days.

with this deal, does anyone know what happens if i were to move out of a 24-hour fitness area? i know with other prepaid plans, the gym would give me a prorated refund.

the reason i ask is that i may move out of state in 6-8 months..but it's not set yet. not sure if i'll lose out on the whole 299 if i move.

24 hour fitness
$20 initiation fee
$35 monthly any clubs you can go

If you plan it out for 2 years, that would run you $860, whereas the Costco deal would be less than half. The only benefit you get is being able to go to super sport clubs, but most people just go to the sport centers anyway.

i know costco is the best deal. i dont know if they are willing to lower the $35 monthly fees if you tell them about the costco offer?
i think $35 monthly for gym membership is too much.

i think the costco deal, you can go to any locations but you cannot freeze your account. that means, you go or dont go to the gym, your membership still continues.

I did this last year (1 year for $199) and you can freeze your account. During the summer I prefer to run outside so I froze mine for 4 months before I started back up. There is no change for freezing it since it is fully prepaid. This was at the downtown Bellevue, WA location.

So wait, it's 299$ for 2 years plus an extra 35$ a month?? Can someone clarify for me please? or is it just 299 for 2 years and that's all you pay??

for less than that you could also get 3 years prepaid with a low renewal (and Super Sport access)

I got mine for $800 and $50 renewal. That wasn't a good deal. There were people who got it for a lot less (at the same time I got mine, almost 3 years ago). It should be fairly easy to get a deal like mine though

$299 for two years. There is no other fee. People are talking about what the standard deal is ($35 a month). This deal brings it to around $12 a month for 2 years.

It's $299 total, for 2 years that's all you pay. I have one that I started this past Dec.

You can get these inside the Costco store in person as well, I purchased mine at the Costco in Southlake, TX, it's the same price that's online.

Previously, like over a year ago, they had 1 year for $199, which I also bought however online.

You might want to look into a Costco membership if you are considering this deal, the Costco membership is not necessary but there's an extra fee.

I think you might be able to get it a little lower. With gym memberships, everything is negotiable. Just go in and ask them in person. Tell them you already know you want to join and just want a good deal. For example, tell them you are willing to do it for zero initiation and $25/month (no idea if that would work). Also decide in advance if you need Super Sport access or not or if a single club membership is OK (that would lower it also). Walk out if they don't agree or you can't come to an agreement within 3 minutes. Those guys will talk to you for hours to get you to sign

A few years ago I bought a 3 year membership for $450 i believe and after the 3 years I would just have to pay $45 per YEAR.
This is my current plan and I just paid my yearly membership of $45 for the 09 year. I wonder if its something similar to this?

This deal you can't renew for the $40-80/year like how we can with ours. I paid $600/3yrs and my Annual renewal is I think $50.

how long ago and in what area?

I bought mine in Orange County, CA. The lowest I have ever seen it (posted here on Fatwallet) was $550 and $20 renewals. Some areas may be easier to get a low price. Around SoCal I was seeing people getting it for $650+

Obviously 3 years ago if he said he bought a 3 year membership and just had to pay $45 for 09 dues on renewal.

Hey brainiac, did you ever consider that he/she might have renewed it several times already?

You're absolutely right. Buying a gym membership is like buying a car. They start you high and then work down the price. They also act like your best friend until you sign; after that, you're just another stat in their commission.

My brother did something similar more than 10 years ago. He paid a flat rate for the first 2 years and then was promised $5/month afterwords. Eventually, they started building Sports, Super Sports, etc and said his "basic" membership wasn't valid and they tried to bump him up to a $35/month plan even though he didn't want to use the pool, track, rock-climbing wall, etc. They wouldn't even let him use another regular center without paying an upgrade fee. As far as the regular 24Hr Fitness centers, they were neglected and/or closed down. Neglected as in their weights were never put back in place and whenever a universal item broke, they never repaired/replaced it. This happened in Southern California.

I have the membership and was paying $34 per month. My wife purchased this $299 membership from costco about a month a go. I canceled my monthly and once the notice expires I will sign up for the two year. However, when I called to cancel they offered to lower my monthly membership. So if you do have monthly membership give them a call and tell them you want to cancel.

I too signed up 1 year membership for $199 will expire on March 25th. Should I wait?

where is this deal which includes super sport clubs?

Problem with the costco membership if you would like to keep the membership you have to start over once it is up. I am going month to month until this summer when 24 hour has their own deals usually 2 or 3 year but you get say a $99.00 renewal after that.

But for the short term it is a great deal

I got a three-year for $599 with $50/year, down from $699. $450 is an amazing price.

I am paying $24/month with 0 to start. I signed up on their website last summer while The Biggest Loser was running.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but why did the group deal organizing get banned? I got in a great deal about 5 years ago ($650 first 3 years, $20 per year after) thanks to a fellow FWer.

That's an okay deal, but almost 100% more than the Costco deal.

I did the $199 deal last year, then bought this deal a couple of months ago to activate once that 1 year membership expired. I was worried because it says not for current members, so I let my membership expire, next day went in and used the certificate no problem. I did ask the guy helping me if they could beat this deal, he said this is the best deal they got going right now unless I wanted to sign up for one of their 3 year plans (he didn't bother giving me the price, leading me to believe the Costco one was better then that one as well). Anyone still with an active membership and don't want to do a 3 year membership + the yearly renewals (only way to come out ahead), I advise you to buy this certificate, and then just hold on to it until you need it. It doesn't expire, and Costco will accept returns of any unused certificate. If you haven't been to the local 24 in your area, be sure to check it out before using the certificate. When 24 doesn't have competition for your workout dollar (Bally's, Gold's, etc), they let the equipment go to junk (I'm talking about HI locations, rusted out weights and machines, very frustrating).

Do you know if 24 Hour Fitness membership can be used to access the clubs in Asia as I travel to Hong Kong and Taiwan frequently? (International locations)

Did that extend your membership for 4 months past 2yrs from date of activation?

What happens when your 2 years at $299 pre-paid expires; did they tell you what price per month or per year you would be charged beyond the 2yr term? Thanks.

I am looking at giving as a gift for a friend who has recently lost his house and is living out of his car. Do these places have clean restrooms and showers? Wouldn't this be ideal for the homeless to use to clean up at less than fiddy cent a day.

Yes, the restrooms and showers are nice. I see people wash up, including shaving, in the mornings so your friend won't look too out of place. I bet he can even do some light laundry, tee shirts and underwear, while showering up.

It is nice deal. I signed for it in january. I'm going to different clubs for all different group classes (pilates, 24 lift, yoga).

Not many of these in the upper midwest...

This is incorrect!

The Costco warehouse locations are currently offering an 18 month membership for $249.99. The Costco website still has the $299/24 months available. The per month cost on the warehouse offer is slightly higher.

this is correct my mistake
