Costco has a new item, Teac model HD-1 HD radio receiver priced at $130, on sale for $100.

Sounds terrific for a small table radio, is IPOD and IPhone compatible and has a remote with a decent number of functions.

Didn't find a thing about it online, and the guy at the store said they just came in.

Seems a great price for such a small, rich sounding radio. Model is Teac HD-1, Costco item 385640.

Bummer...doesn't show up on their website for some reason? Perhaps too new?

No, it's not on the website. Even a google search was fruitless.

Must be a really new item.

The only problem I see with it is that bass and treble is controlled by presets, but the presets are suitable choices.

Does it have alarm features? I've been looking to get a new alarm clock, but wanted something with decent sound.....

Can anyone take a camera-phone picture of it? Would be neat to see what it is before I make the trek to Costco to check it out or if they even have it.

Cheers,

I just checked mine (2/9 thru 3/1) which has the Vizio & Sceptre coupons... No mention of it.

Saw it at the store and it looks cheaper than the iHome ip9 unit.

Teac HD-1 (149.17kB)

I picked a unit up today at Costco. There is a $20 instant coupon that makes it $99 out the door. Has a feature called iTunes tagging that allows you to push a button when you hear a song you like and the next time you dock your iPod to iTunes it pulls the identifies the song for potential purchase. It is a clock radio with snooze feature. Dual bass opennings in the rear. Phone and line out, aux in, Video out, iPod dock, and remote.

How's the sound quality?

What kind of antenna is included for the HD radio? It seems like this is a glorified iPod speaker device.

The sound is quite excellent IMHO for a $99 clock radio. The LCD provides station call sign and song title and the tuner is precise as it is digital vs analog. The Eq presets allow for ROCK, POP, CLASSIC, JAZZ, BASS, and NORMAL. Per the OP's statement, can't quite fine tune here but "but the presets are suitable choices". The unit is quite heavy for it's size (really not as much plastic as you would expect). The volume and tuning selectors have some tactile feel to them. The remote appears to be made out of thick black anodized aluminum. Overall, I am suprizingly quite please and will definitely keep the unit.

The HD radio sound is quite excellent IMHO for a $99 clock radio. iPod also sounds fantastic. The LCD provides station call sign and scrolling song title and the tuner is precise as it is digital vs analog. The Eq presets allow for ROCK, POP, CLASSIC, JAZZ, BASS, and NORMAL. The volume and tuning selectors have some tactile feel to them. The remote appears to be made out of thick black anodized aluminum. Volume at max will fill an average room with little distortion. Not quite powerful enough to replace a full sized receiver for party mode. Overall, I am suprizingly quite pleased and will definitely keep the unit.

It has extenal connections for AM loop and FM antennas. You could still call it a glorified iPod device or a glorified clock radio if you want. For the price I think it performs very well either way at this price point.

Does it accept the Nano 4th Gen.?
Does it charge it?

It says plays and charges any docking iPod (including Nano). It comes with various adapters in the box. I don't that specific unit so I can't test for you.
