You should put MetroCard and Yellow Cab in title too. I thought it was peculiar that they were only promo'ing commuter rail lines, glad I clicked in.

Grrr. Green, but it kinda sucks that the LIRR is raising fares 25%. Give me a one-time $50 back, whoop de doo (and I'll only likely get $20 before the promo ends). Doesn't even come close to the increase in my monthly ticket. Not to mention that taxpayers are on the hook for whatever WaMu pays here. Or that Chase is next to ask for a handout.

So it looks like a deal, but in reality it's more like we're getting frakked in the caboose not once, but twice, and saying Thank You for it. On second thought I'm changing my rating to red.

It's money that you'd have to spend anyway. Why not just get $10 back and be happy that you got something? And by the way.. this is a Chase promo, not a MTA promo. Chase has nothing to do with the fare hike.

Keep in mind also that the stimulus bill doubles the allowance for corporate tax-free transit plans, so if your commuting costs go up, at least you can get more tax-free.

Ooops I posted this on the Finance forum too. Rarely check this board and search return nothing. Apologies for double post.

Will note at least they got thier categories right this year. I had a tough time last year getting them to clarify what qualified. EasyPay auto reload, vending machine, taxis - yellow cabs not livery/limo apparently even though same MCC, and MetroNorth and NYC Transit (subway/bus)

Umm, the rise in fares on the LIRR only is irrelevant to the deal. You still save $50 regardless.

As for Chase/WaMu - now that is an interesting opinion....however, FW'ers usually don't take into account how their actions impact others. To wit, the insistence on pricing errors, which I am sure eat into profits, thus causing retailers to raise prices across the board.

Hmmm, I recall that I signed up for a similiar offer from Chase a few months back, purchased some metrocards and I got no money back. How do they credit the money? In your statement? Thanks.

This same promo last year I did not get all the Cash Back I expected so I wrote to them. They said some purchases did not qualify. I have no idea how or why as they were all MetroCard vending Machine and NYC Yellow Taxi purchases. In the end they just gave me credit for the additional I thought I was due. I did a whole Excel analysis for them too and I think that helped.

Rather interestingly we must wait until June 15 at least -- some 45 days after promo end for credit.

Be ware there is a maximum on this -- $750 in net spend for total of $50 Cash Back.

If Chase Credit Card they put credit to your account. If Chase Debit they put credit to the primary checking account.

does it qualify if I purchase the metro-north tickets online?

Last time Chase had this promo I've bought LIRR tickets online and got the CashBack. Metro North should be no different.

OT: If FDIC takes Chase over (unlikely, but with $500bn credit line nothing is impossible) will they honor this offer?

Is there a way to check how much charges we have towards this promo? I want to make sure I hit the closest threshold.
