YMMV Sony dvd burner 22x on clearance at Staples Archived From: Hot Deals

I went in today and found the DRU 865S that the serial ata version on clearance for 25.50
Its a 22x dvd burner comes with nero express 8.

I bet some people will give this a thumbs down because the standard Newegg price is ~$22-$25 but keep in mind that this is the retail version that has software and DVD decoders that don't come with the OEM versions.

This clearance price is not low enough. You can buy this Sony 22x burner for $23.99 shipped free from Newegg anytime without going to Staples wild goose chase. Linky to Sony burner at Newegg.

The OP is a SATA Retail drive. The link you provided is an IDE OEM drive.
If you want to compare, here is the correct link for $49.99 - newegg.

Any get one to confirm, but I thought this "retail" version did not have SATA cable inside...thus further negating the fair price. That said....still good to know.

Doesn't look like a cable is included from Newegg description and from one of the reviewers.

Reviewer: ...I did not have to upgrade any firmware and the driver cd is only needed for the software. (will work without disk) Comes with screws, but no sata cable. I strongly recommend one with clips although this burner does vibrate less then many others.

Looks like this is a repost of the drive posted on the Staples clearance thread on 1/19/2009

"Sony DRU840A Internal Multiformat DVD Burner $29.80 (Was $69.90) SKU 707061 B&M Only"

or is it 766251 - the Sony DVD Internal that was $25 on BF, that came with NERO 8

Actually, this one is $15.50 and is not that hard to find. According to some forums (google is your friend), this is a rebranded version of highly popular Sony Optiarc AD-7200A.
