For existing customers (potentially, for VIP customers i.e. members who have been Vonage customers for a long time), Vonage is offering a new plan called $9.99 Basic 100 plan.
Kindly call in to get your plan changed as when you log on to your web account, this offer will not be displayed
According to the plan offering:
100 minutes of local and long distance outgoing calls anywhere in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
called in and changed... since the 500 min plan was going up to 17.99, saved 96 bucks a year. Only use it for incoming minutes only, and they're unlimited. Thanks OP

Vonagae SUCKS at any price. Lousy service. They try to hold you with fake contracts. Don't touch these guys.
I don't understand, why would they do this since it only has the potential to REDUCE their revenue ?
I've been with Vonage for a few years. I love'm, but I don't use my phone much so I have what was the least expensive plan, and this recently went up from $19.xx to $24.xx. I know I'd probably make out better at $9.95 even having to occasionally pay for extra minutes. Am I missing something about this offer, cause this should save me like $14 bucks a month ????
I've been on the $14.99 Unlimited Residential Plan for a year and a half, as the name indicates it is unlimited and the price has never changed. Who's paying $24.99? And I must say, I haven't had an issue in months. In fact, I forget I even have Vonage, which is the best indicator IMO.

Call 1-866-243-4357. Press 2 to say "you are an existing customer" Say 'Change plan' Provide your Vonage phone number Provide your 4-digit pin number Speak with the rep
Please note: Not "all" existing customers will qualify for this offer. Should be a VIP member (member for a long time) as per Vonage

Just to let everybody know, as per Vonage today, they have stopped offering the $14.99 unlimited residential plan. We need to follow up with Vonage again at a later time or continue checking their emails to see if the offer is available again
Spent some time on the phone and I had to speak to the "next level" account manager, but they did finally see it my way. Thanks OP !
Again, I'm very happy with my Vonage in terms of features and performance, and now in terms of price too, but getting this is not necessarily easy or a sure thing.
Hmm when I dial that number, it asks me immediately for my phone number -- no opportunity to say "you are an existing customer". I also called in the rep and asked if I could change from the 500 minute plan to the 100 minute plan, but I was told it wasn't offered yet. I've been with them for over 4 years now. I wonder what would constitute VIP membership/longterm member?

It's most likely to keep people from moving to a lower-cost provider (which is what I did, about a year back). I switched to Callcentric; it's $3.45/month with all fees + usage. This is much cheaper than Vonage for me, since I use hardly any minutes. Even counting 100 minutes at a per-minute rate, it'd be less than $9.99 + whatever fees Vonage tacks on (at least $2).
There's also significantly lower-cost providers, such as VoipO, for people who do use minutes.

Vonage is cool, but like many others, I don't really need a landline much. I just wanted to keep my old number, and wanted the lowest cost, and Vonage's features are pretty nifty. I spoke to the rep, and he said that the plan "has already been obsoleted." I explained that I hardly make calls, and really don't care about a landline with all these cell phones at home. He transferred me to another department, and from there, the rep clarified why I wanted to make a change to the account. Then he changed it to the Basic 100, and now I'm happy.
The Vonage service is cool, and I like how it forwards my voicemail to email. I've been very happy with them, but their recent change in terms to up the monthly fee really made me think about alternatives. This included not having a phone, using a prepaid phone, or a lesser known VOIP company. In the end, they're still making a few bucks from me, and we're both happy for that.
EDIT: Whoops. Thanks OP, I wouldn't have known otherwise! Green.
Called, entered my Vonage #, said "Cancel", entered my PIN number, spoke with a rep in about 30 seconds. Switched from 500 min plan (which used to be $9.99/mth but is now almost double that) to 100 min plan for $9.99.
I average 200 mins/mth so even if I go over by 100 mins, that's only $3.90 more -- still a savings.
I called in and they said they couldn't reduce my bill beyond the residential 500 (14.99+fees) even though I've been a customer for 4+ years. The rep said there was no such plan.
Screw them. I've been with them for almost since they started. I thought I was the $14.99 unlimited until I went over one month. Called and they said, no I was only at 600 min level.
Canceled the bastards since I have T-Mobile cell, and went with their @Home plan for $10 unlimited. Better all around.
Same here on the no luck call. The CS rep indicated I was on the $14.99 plan, and that was the lowest they offered. I told him that I understood there was a 100 minute basic plan for $9.99, which was very appealing to me as I use the phone just to keep a 30 year old land line number active, the rate has increased to $17.99 and that I make few calls.
No luck.
As for a reason for them to offer this, as soon as my 2 years are up - I am going to port the number over to the cheapest PAYG cell provider that works at my house. Since I rarely call out, and I also have a Magic Jack for when I do want to call on the cheap, why pay Vonage? After taxes at the new $18 rate, my Vonage bill will be around $23/mo after taxes.... maybe I'll eat the $40 disconnect fee and leave anyway.

As per Vonage reps, this offer is not available any more

I have had callcentric for two years and has been great so far....they may still be having the deal for numbers at 2.95 with incoming calls free and pay as you go for outgoing calls, which for domestic calls is about 2 cents !... I have had Vonage as well, just got tried of add on fees creepage...don't know if that is still the case with them.

Vonage SUCKS!!! they disconnected our number, and say they do not know why our number was taken away. its been days since this "investigation" started. So we have no number and have been using our cell phones. They say they can not do anything about it, we have to wait and they do not know how long. They wont even give us a temporary number to use in the meantime, they say we have to actually sign up as a new customer to get another number. talk about crap service and not giving a crap because they do stupid BS contracts. I told my family not to go with them, because of their higher price and contract and now we are screwed.
Keep in mind if you're on the 14.99 500 minute plan it's going up to 17.99. Because of that you can cancel service with no early termination fees... use that as leverage to get them to drop you to basic 100 plan.

hmm when i call the # and press 2 it says ok you need technical support setting up your phone line....anyone else getting this same thing?
I just called and the agent was aware of the promotion. She said that I'd have to speak to an account manager for that, and they are only open M-F 9-5 EST. The direct number for them is 888-861-6321.
Not to TC, but how is this POSSIBLY even tepid when Tmobile at home is unlimited incoming and outgoing (50 states) for $10 a month, Tmobile wireless is $50 per month unlimited (so if you have a cell phone, you don't even need a home line necessarily), and all international calls can be taken care of via Grand Central or other cheap international VOIPs?

Well for me T-Mobile is not an option due to their small coverage area for wireless, plus I don't need to make international calls. I just need a basic home phone so this works great for me.
