Free Fishing Day 2009 Free fishing days nationwide. Enjoy free fishing without having to purchase a license. Many states use the first weekend in June. Also, look into National Hunting and Fishing Day in late September. Be sure to check your specific state's regulations for details and Dates and further information. Some states still require special stamps to fish for trout, salmon, etc. on free fishing days or restrict free fishing to freshwater/saltwater. Other states allow free fishing year-round to disabled veterans, senior citizens, children, etc. This is a great way to introduce a husband, wife, child, friend to fishing.

Just as an FYI to new anglers, 4th of july week gets hella busy for charter boats. Reserve early to be safe. Also, the variety of fish is different in July as opposed to September. Plan accordingly, and check the fishing reports!

A freebie worth more than $10 can be posted in BOTH free stuff and hotdeals.
I so rarely look at hotdeals...I wish more good freebies would be dbl-posted. (hint, hint!)
thanks

Good chance to try it then!
I'm in Texas, didn't realize it's free (or recently free) to fish at state parks year-round. I always thought, that's where all the fishing rangers are, so you'd better have your license there (rarely have seen a rangers at the smaller lakes outside of state parks asking about your license).

I didn't realize the free fishing day was such a hidden secret.
Again, nonresident rules vary by state. New York's free fishing weekend (last full weekend in June) is available to all. I fished on Lake Seneca this June while visiting family up there.
