Coupon Search We sincerely hope you enjoy this feature and tell your friends about it. Even folks who don't get into forums can benefit.
The addition of Coupons Search prompted a change to our homepage, header, forums index, and cash back shopping pages. Forums browsing will be essentially the same, and we’re planning a launch Wednesday 3/25/09 at 11:00 a.m. CST.
Feedback from a group of beta testers led to several improvements. Please take a look over on beta and let us know if you run into any problems. NOW we’re bug squashing and addressing anything broken about usability. LATER we’ll take related suggestions into consideration while improving our pages site-wide.

I took a short stroll, Looks fine to me......
However, in your Beta coupon search I Like the seprate catagories listed But. I get PO'd when I need to weed through " Staples: Coupons & Offers" Just to find out the "Staples Coupons" are seprate (as they should be) Just below.
And (while I am venting) another issue not related to the Beta: When doing a search in the fourums, a "score" colum is added and used to sort results. WTF is this based on. I get old "Red" or Locked topics before New Green ones with more responses. This is using one search term. Just try "Staples"
- "FatWallet" needs to be in the main page title! There's no branding or sense of being somewhere when my tab only shows "Online Coupons | Cash Back". And that's all that will be bookmarked, too. Big omission.
- The Deal Forums box should be on the far left, CashBack in the center, and the beta Coupon Search on the right. People read left to right. The forums drive everything. CashBack is the next big draw. New is great, but don't make the mistake of de-emphasizing the more important features to flaunt the Coupon Search. A side bonus is now you'll have text on the left and right, with the featured CashBack image in the middle. Ah, symmetry!
- Above also applies to the page titles. Online coupons should not be first because they're new. How do you want to identify the site? There are many other coupon sites out there years of larger followings for that feature. Do you really want to brand yourselves as yet another coupon site, while marginalizing FatWallet as the greatest all-around DEAL site?
- The new forums page looks nice. However the "New Messages" icon is horrible. Not the feature, but the dark, boxy icon itself. Notice everything else on the site is in vivid colors (especially the green and orange). I suggest an orange asterix/star-type shape, same shade as the other orange on the page. Like the round-yet-pointy shape of a star screwdriver bit.
- The main page FatWallet logo is too small. There's nothing to let a new visitor know that FatWallet's an awesome powerhouse of a site that's been around for ten years, instead of just another deal site with a fancy front page. We all love "March Double CashBack Madness" and the banner looks snazzy, but I suggest shortening it and dropping a nice FatWallet 10th Anniversary logo (of similar height) to its left.

will those coupons be fw only submission or will it eventually include user submitted codes? The best ones are not site furnished, but user furnished.

Thanks for the feedback and questions. I understand different folks want to see different stuff on top of these lists. We'll keep that in mind as pages evolve. Search... yeah I know, but not the focus here. (We'll keep working on it.) Design colors, shapes, placements... probably gonna stay the same pending testing. There are divergent views on what goes where, and ours is reasonably well-researched as a good starting point. Message indicator is being addressed. User-submitted coupons is a great idea I'd like to see implemented. It remains to be seen how, when, and where.

Not to veer ever further OT here - but c'mon now, this is 2009. Junior high schoolers are coding better search engines than the one at FW. Heck, you could use Google with "site:fatwallet.com" and get better results.
Go check out your competitors. See how easy it is to search on their sites.

How come some of the coupons aren't actually coupons?
For Example: New Release: Resident Evil 5 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Just takes me to BB where I can buy the new item...for full price.
Maybe I just missed it but how about a way to rate the coupon -- Sure we all like saving money but if a bunch of 1% off your entire purchase of $1500 type coupons become the trend it would be nice to neg it since honestly it's a crappy coupon. I think it would help other members of the community by not also wasting their time.
While we are on the topic of rating; how about that feature plus additional sorting tools besides a text search, such as "highest rated" "lowest Rated" etc etc...I also think that by being able to have ratings FW staff would get a better feel for what the community wants to see more/less of...not that we aren't already vocal.
so does this mean fw is competing with eBay and ejunkie now? -g

FW coupons seems to be competing with couponcabin, retailmenot, couponmountain, etc.. a bootleg coupon site as you mention is not competition at all. A coupon should be FREE to consumers, not a way to FLEECE consumers. If that hurts a site that sells an item that should not be sold, they deserve to lose revenue.

I've noticed since the new site started that the home page seems to take forever to load... Also I have been having lots of trouble signing in from the main screen. I click Log In repeatedly and it will never take me to the log in page... I have to click on something else then click the log in button. Is anyone else having this problem?

By "main screen" you mean... homepage? Or the main coupons page? I click Log In repeatedly and it will never take me to the log in page... I have to click on something else then click the log in button. Is anyone else having this problem? Where are you clicking "log in"? In the top navigation?
Also, what browser are you using? Any additional info you can offer will help solve the problem! Thanks

personal peeve, the *link* at the top left of each page that goes to the main forum, doesn't look like a link, I figured out by accident it's a link. IE here in this thread [at least in my view settings] it says "Hot Deals" in plain black text, wish you could make it more obvious that that is a link.

Weak at the best haven't really found anything worth much yet. Viewer post "hot deals" is alot better.
