I agree with eluck. I don't think this unit actually has any memory itself.
Now for another question ....
comparing this one for 6.92
and this other one for 8.37
4 in 1
any opinions on differences, etc.
It kind of looks like the 4 in 1 has an additional line in and can play from a flashdrive, but the cheaper has some sort of cable too, so it might do the same. Anyone know?
Edit: Duh...the line in is for the mp3 player. The difference might be that the $6.92 has a 2.5mm input jack (which is what the cable is for) and the $8.37 has a more common 3.5mm jack. Still, any opinions?

Also, I think this will be a good addition to my daughter's easter basket . Thanks OP!

Gertrude23 said:I'd like to order this (I think I understand correctly that it will play songs from an iPod and maybe FM radio?). I'd like to also use minispeakers with it. Is that possible--use iPod & speakers, all through the cigarette lighter? Is there any particular speaker(s) you would suggest on the DE site? Thanks from a music-gadget challenged FWer!

This thing plays the music, and transmits an FM signal at a certain frequency, which you can then pickup through your car radio. IOWs its a miniature radio station. Which you program.

I've has this. For over a year now, and it works great! It seems to maybe have a stronger signal strength then other fm transmitters, because I've used others from Griffin, etc. And on the same frequencies, this one plays best. With a sd slot, USB, and line-in. This is a no brainer. The only thing is expect to wait about two weeks since gets shipped from hk

Do these things support SDHC, or just SD?

For those that have this, is sound as good as the normal fm signal? Also, how is volume level. I have another model fm transmitter where the sound is bad and way too low so that if you switch to radio, you need to turn down the volume or you'll go deaf.

Also, I see some recent comments on the review that it doesn't memorize the frequency and last song. Any one get one recently that can comment on this? Thanks.

Uses SDHC.

I got one of these, which worked great for a few months until the SD card wouldnt stay inside; it keeps popping out. The USB still works.

I jumped on this the last time and it was HORRIBLE!!! Not worth the time to fill out your info. You can barely hear it with the volume turned up (and I did follow the directions) and plenty of static to boot. Beware.

We have gotten 3 of these (One for us and 2 for gifts) over the life of the deal and they are wonderful.

Thanks OP!

Anyone know if this would work as a USB charger and FM transmitter for Zune (1st gen, 30GB)?

I have this and just ordered a new one. I've used it for a few months now. It is working great. The sound quality is ofcourse same as Radio sound. There is volume setting on the player, so you can adjust it. I don't have a problem of it being too low, as the car stereo can also crank up the sound. It does memorized the frequency and the last song you play. In fact it will start over with the last song.
I had other transmitters, but this one is the best in term of signal strength.

Thanks, in 4 1 of the $8 ones.

My only concern is the power. This transmitter uses cigarette lighter

I have only one cigarette lighter in my car and my GPS sits in it when I drive.

Any way out?

I think I like the more expensive model better. If you have a 3.5mm audio cable, your friends can plug their mp3 player in your unit in a snap.

I am thinking about using it for audiobooks via SD. does it resume the song where it leaves off after shutting off the car and then turning it back on?

No, it doesn't start from where you turned if off, but from the start of that particular track. In that case, yes, its not of a very good use to you.
