Pretty good reviews, I just ordered one. Luckily it doesn't cost much because a lot of time Deal Extreme takes a long time to ship anything to my house.

You know, I bought these two weeks ago when they were on sale too. I just got it in the mail yesterday and am quite surprised by it. It's worked surprisingly well and has less noise distortion than my fancier, more expensive one that just broke. I know some people said they had trouble with the remotes arriving DOA, but mine seems to work just fine. I am very happy with it, especially because it can play back through an SD card or USB flash drive as well as another mp3 player or CD player.
Only con I noticed was there isn't anyway to power it off other than by pulling it out of the outlet. Doesn't bother me that much, but it would keep a very tiny drain on the battery if you forget to pull it out.
It did take 14 days to get to me, but I expect that from Deal Extreme. Overall, I'm very happy with this little gadget, especially for the price
I have bough this couple of weeks back. Very happy with it. One question for people who are using it - Do you know how to forward within a song? The forward button forwards to next song. Some times you just want to skip a part of the song.

The forward button on your MP3 player should do it, when you press FORWARD button and hold it. Both of my creative and ipod do it this way.
But if you're using SD card on the device, errrrr.........
I am wondering what the sd card/slot would be useful for? if FM transmitter could play music off sd, why do you need mp3 player? and if that no mp3 is needed why wouldn't you just then rip tracks on to a cd?
anyone? just trying to understand what this is good for, or what it offers over already options?

Did they put the folder selection functionality in this thing yet? Except for that one down side (for me) this one totally works..

I had also assumed holding the forward button should do the trick. It does not work for me while using SD card.
I'd like to order this (I think I understand correctly that it will play songs from an iPod and maybe FM radio?). I'd like to also use minispeakers with it. Is that possible--use iPod & speakers, all through the cigarette lighter? Is there any particular speaker(s) you would suggest on the DE site? Thanks from a music-gadget challenged FWer!

Wouldn't the outlet power be cut when you turn off the car?
I had bought two units at different times. Looks like the firmware had undergone changes in the second one. I did notice differences in menu functions and audio quality compared to the first unit.

Not some American made cars, especially the old ones -_-
Is that in reference to the side view of it? Someone once commented to me that when you look at this from the side angle it resembles something masculine.
Seriously tough, this product works great. Much clearer than the expensive one's on the market. Definitely worth the $7. Thanks op in for another.
I got the exact model (they have a bunch of different car mp3 players). It works pretty well, sound quality is not great but decent. The remote sucks and is pretty much useless. Only annoying thing is no within track skip, it's only forward or backward.
I got a Garmin since then and that plays MP3's too so I use it instead.

Some folks may not have a CD burner or don't want to take the time to make one. I have an mp3 player and a phone that takes an SD card, so most of my mp3s are on those. With this unit, I can just switch out cards or use the player. Plus, with memory cards, you can add/delete the songs very easily. For cds, you have to burn a new one. It's nice to have some choice on how to input your music.

thanks for the info. Do you know how much memory is on the MP3 player internally on this (how many songs does it hold w/o the SD card?)

This unit itself doesn't have a card. It provides connectivity from you mp3 player or you have to put SD Card in it.

This is a radio transmitter which convert mp3 song into radio signal and transmit to your car radio. Your car radio tune to a certain channel.then the music is playing throu your car radio to your car speaker. No speaker or other hardware is needed. Why it is an mp3 player because it play mp3 format. Burning to a CD is a hassle compare to copying to a SD card.
