This is one of the high end Nuvi's, with smoother scrolling, Bluetooth hands free calling, text to speech, lane guidance, junction view, 1000 Waypoints, MSN Direct, hot fix satellite lock, etc.

It is $550+ at most online and B&M retailers, and it hovers around $500 at Amazon. Yesterday Amazon reduced the price to $349.99. From past experience, it will stay at this price for a day or two, then shoot back up to around $500, so this is a slick deal. Here is the link:

bought 2 of these yesterday at this price...thanks op!

Can this been in use in other countries if I preload the map?

Any idea how much lifetime traffic is? The 775t is $449 and including both US and Europe maps and lifetime traffic.

Could anyone comment on the 760, it is much cheaper and many of the reviews say it is the same as the 775 or 785 except for the traffic receiver..

Okay, seems to me the best way to go would be to get the 760 for $226 at Amazon and then purchase lifetime traffic for $60 making the price $286 for a unit with lifetime traffic. What am I missing here? The photos show different screen views, although the Garmin web site indicates the same software on all 700 series.

The 760 doesn't have th Lane Assistant/Juncion View.

If they throw in life time map update than I might be interested. Else what donrull said seem a more reasonable price.

This seems like a decent deal - it's worth noting that Garmin are due to release a whole new range in the next few weeks so we should see much more price drops. The new range are also incredibly slimline in comparison to the current generation.

765T is the same as 785T, except the 765T has lifetime traffic, and the 785T has MSN Direct. Personal preference as to which you prefer (and understand that the "free" traffic service on the 765T is supported by pop up adds which are sent to your GPS).

The 760 is indeed a great unit (I owned one but returned it), and can be had for a good price (about $225 at Amazon), but it does not have some of the feature of the 785T (lane assist, juntion view, etc), and it does not have the smooth map scrolling that the 785T is noted for. Also, one of the REALLY cool features of using MSN Direct is that you can map out your trip on your home computer then zap it over to your GPS. Never have to tap in the address (or addresses) on the unit itself. Also, if it matters, you can have 500 waypoints on the 760, but you can have 1000 waypoints on the 785T.

Read the reviews though on the new units. They are indeed slimmer, and they do have some nice features, but they leave off some of the desireable features on the higher end existing units (like the 785T).

Also, Garmin pricing is crazy and unpredictable, and you can't always count on price reductions as new models come out. The original voice activated Nuvi (880) has been replaced in the Garmin line by the Nuvi 885T, but the prices for the 880 are still $100-$150 higher than the 885T. Huh? Wouldn't logic suggest that the price should drop on the older model to make room for the newer model? Sometimes, but not always with Garmin.

Dead. $399 now

Nuvi 850 seems like a pretty good deal at 324

So this higher model has a different receiver, and can only get MSN traffic, which isn't free, vs. the lower model 7x5T models that have GTM 20 receiver, and free FM traffic? I'm surprised the 785T doesn't offer both traffic methods.

BTW, I used the free FM traffic in LA a couple weeks ago, and it didn't seem to help out any, else I just didn't understand it. Seems I was already in traffic when the traffic icon popped up.

Also, what are the new models and what features do they ommit?

I believe this model is lacking some nice features.. lane assist, MSN receiver, bluetooth etc... I'm really waiting for the 885 or 885T models to come down in price. Or a cheaper model that has lots of bells and whistles..That 780T was a good deal for the $349.. Sorry I missed it....... waaaaaah...

The details are overwhelming.

You can always get this on eBay from reputable sellers (currently 10% live CashBack). You can also get another 2% off if you have the eBay bucks reward program.

The 785T can still be had for 340's (or mid 335 with eBay bucks)
The 765T can be had for 357 (or about 350 with eBay bucks)
