I was very hesitant to make the switch in February... Hated the idea of messing with my internet I am glad I made the switch... The total home DVR is sweet.. I got the MAX 10 internet decided not to go with Max 18 saved $10
The things I miss are having a clock on the box, being able to do QAM TV recordings on my computer, and having an external hard drive hooked to the DVR.
COX HD was driving crazy though, the sound and picture dropped alot
I love my U-verse. Best DVR system I have ever used.

I was able to talk to the chat representative into giving me $350 Cash Back, plus used the code "EXTRAGIFT" when placing the order for an additional $25. So, for those signing up, use that as a starting point when negotiating with them.

I believe this has been the standard deal for a while now with U-Verse online ordering. I think you can actually even do a little better if you just walk into the store and ask (guy at my store said he could get me $300 if I sign up).

As far as I know you need a box in each room because of their technology.. This offer is best for people who already have multiple cable boxes... You are probably better off sticking with cable

I'm switching from Comcast now and losing that is one of the things that stink, so no you won't get those channels.
It starts off well but after a while it looks expensive. I have Uverse since Sep 08 but now they have jacked up prices so much that I had to cancel the TV last month. Internet prices are not good also for existing customers. But yeah the DVR is good. Once the promo is over its like vacation is over

Just tell them you are leaving and they will get you better pricing. I work someone that did that. They knocked $20 off a month for a year.
Signed up for U-Verse a couple months ago (glad i switched from Comcast) and they gave me two rebates ($200 + $50);
"Customers who purchase new U-verse U-200, U-300, or U-400 online may be eligible to receive $200 Cash Back" (AT&T rep came to the door and only would offer $100 rebate even after i told him the website would give me $200)
and
"Customers who order New U-verse TV 200+ and New HSIA during specific promotional windows, will receive an additional $50 Visa Gift Card."

Be careful with U-verse. I had the package with a DVR for a month because of the promo. Then, after a month, I downgraded to a package without a DVR (since I already had a TiVo with lifetime service). The U-verse technician swapped out their DVR for a cable box. And that is when the nightmare began. The DVR never got scanned back in, so I was billed for it. Upon seeing the bill, my wife was so upset that she canceled the U-verse service. However, the rep she spoke to mistakenly canceled our internet service. And you cannot just have the internet turned back on. You have to mail them the old box while a U-verse technician shows up to install a new one and turn the internet back on. And when I told the new installer that the old DVR was never scanned in, he laughed and said that they had piles of them laying around and he didn't think it would ever turn up. Anyway, after months of wrangling with them about the bill for the DVR, I finally got one person on the phone who believed that the technician took it and she removed it from the bill. But it was an ordeal. During that time, I also googled U-verse complaints and realized that I was not the only one who had an issue with being billed for equipment that had been returned.
Thanks for the heads up but please google complaints about Comcast, Dish network and Directv and you will also see TONS of complaints about people being billed for equipment they returned. It's a very common problem unfortunately!

Not true. I have no land line and have been using uverse for months.
When I tried to sign up on their website, it said I had to have an existing phone. When I called AT&T to sign up, they told me that in order to get the $250, I had to get phone too.

I currently have Suddenlink with 2 HD DVRs. I'm getting analog and QAM channels in 2 other rooms. From reading this it sounds like I'll need boxes in those rooms - what do they charge for extra boxes?
U-Verse in Chicago area has some bugs that need to be worked out yet..
You gota be real fast pushing the buttons on the tv remote, instead of 280 you`ll get 28 for example. The guide is a complete mess with channels all over, they do all this fancy stuff and then use a cheapo IR remote instead of UHF..and I want a UHF but you can not get that..
Yea, I got $340 back but I`m locked in a 2 year contract and I`m getting less channels for more money than when I had Dishnetwork..and if your Dish is zeroed in right Dish is very reliable..Even with the U300 I don,t care for the programing I`m getting, plus they threw in 2 months of HBO trial offer..
If you figure it out, your not saving any money with the poor tv setup..
On top of that I heard on the news that Sprint is going to offer a new wireless high speed internet in the Chicago area, thats going to be faster & cheaper than cable, U-verse or anything else for less money..very soon.
be sure to get the online $100 bonus and any referral bonus..

if you want more than basic internet sign up for the minimum then upgrade. After a few days you will see a $40 check available on the att reward center website. I started out with the minimum but it was terrible for just surfing the internet. Upgraded and got the $40, don't have to ask or anything. Then I had to call in because I never got my EXTRAGIFT $25. The customer service rep upgraded my internet to the third level (pro I think) and I noticed an additional $40 check available. He also gave me the 450 package free for 6 months. I plan on downgrading my internet and tv once the "free" has run out.
What? There isn't ANY contract with ATT U-Verse unless Chicago is different than where I'm at. How are you locked in a two year contract?

I've been happy with U-Verse TV and Internet service. It's not perfect, but the Internet service is much more reliable than we had with cable service from Comcast/Time Warner. If anyone wants to sign up with my referral number, please PM me, and I'll be glad to split the bonus with you once I get it.

your missing the point order tv, internet, and DIGITAL phone and cancel the services you don't want after 30 days

That is completely false information.
Uverse is much better quality than cable. The SD is WAY better and there are much more HD channels. I don't think I could ever switch back to cable after being spoiled with uverse.
I used the chat and was able to get an extra $100, so I got $350 total Cash Back. I ordered the U200, 6 Meg internet and 250 minute/month phone plan. I didn't schedule my install until until May 1st because I bought a new house and thats when I move in. The House is wired for FTTH and already has prewired CAT-5 in all the rooms. Next step is to try a referal and wait for some upgrade offers to come in a few months. Thanks OP!
