WB is offering owners of SOME of it's HD-DVD movies the opportunity to "upgrade" to Blu-Ray for $4.95 plus the HD-DVD cover art. You can keep the box and disc!

I've bought a lot of $2-5 HD-DVDs since the format was dropped. This is a great opportunity to get Blu-Ray copies for not a lot of cash just to make yourself a bit more "future proofed," though that is a really impossible concept. Maybe my PS3 will get some movie action now.

The only downside is that not all WB movies are available... Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was one of the HD-DVD giveaway titles, for example. Also there are a lot of crappy titles not worth the $5 upgrade.

Anyway here is the link to WB's Red2Blu site

iNetVideo Has several HD-DVDs on the list for $1.99 to $5.99. Only problem is they might be Canadian versions. YMMV

2 CSRs have confirmed canadian HD-DVDs are OK, 2 have said they are not. YMMV
------------------------------

WB will ship to the US only.

You DO NOT NEED TO SEND IN YOUR HD-DVD disks, only the paper inserts with the upc. NO COPIES.

If you fail to send in the paper slip they will refund your $5

Limit of 25, box sets count as 1

$5 a disk and $7 shipping once. i.e. cost for 25 titles would be $132 or $5.28 a disk.

------------------------------

Planet Earth is the BBC version (not the alternate SWeaver version)[Currently not available for trade in]

Ultimate Matrix now asks for the sleeve from Matrix: Revolutions at checkout (still not updated on front page).

To those $5 HD-DVD disk thread crappers: 0wn3d ?

WTF....they sold those HD-DVD's at same prices as Blu-Ray and now pay another $5.

Excellent, and green for you. Are you listening Paramount?

I am not so sure how 0wn3d those HD-DVD disk thread crappers are since 99% of these WB coversion titles being offered are $14.99 or less on Blu-Ray anyway? Many sell for under $10ea with the frequent B1G1 on Amazon. By the time you pay the $4.95 per title + $6.95+ S&H you might as well just have purchased the Blu-Ray titles without the trade-in offer. Perhaps WB just realized an excellent opportunity to take advantage of a group of naive comsumers with an already proven track record of making poor purchasing decisions.

According to the site, all you'd have to send them is case for the first movie in the boxset, not the movies or the cases for any others.

I'm wondering how Letters from Iwo Jima is on there but Flags of Our Fathers is not?

Is the $6.95 S&H per movie, or for the entire order? If it's for the entire order then this really is a pretty hot deal. You are getting a back-up high-def movie in Blu-Ray for a very low cost.

I only see $6.95 per order not disk, so if you have several of these it may end up being another $1 to the price per disk. That's reasonable.

Looks like there's a limit of 25 in your cart.

Ooooh Planet Earth for 10.

Does anyone know if I upgrade my Planet Earth for $10, will I get the US or UK (BBC) version? The picture shows the BBC logo, but I don't know if it means anything. I have the BBC version on HD-DVD and don't want to end up with the Sigourney Weaver US edition.

From the FAQ on the site:
Q: How much is shipping and handling?
A: Flat fee shipping and handling is $6.95 on your entire order shipped within the Continental US. The fee is $8.95 in Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico.

FYI - I never stated $6.95 S&H per title.

Might well be worth while to buy some of the cheap HD-DVDs now at Inetvideo (as low as $1.99) and get the BD version for the extra $4.95. If there's enough that interests you, you could really build a quick collection on the cheap.

How did the idea that it might even POSSIBLY be $6.95 S/H PER disk get started? The stupidity turned this excellent thread a little sour.
