Has it gotten so bad that WB has to ask for money from HDDVD people because no one is buying Blu-ray ?
Why would I give WB money for the same hd movies I got during the HDDVD fire sales for pennies?! My HDDVD collection and players are working just fine.

Seems like a hot deal since you may be able to sell the HD-DVD disc for a couple bucks. It may be a ploy to try and artificially increase the perceived revenue from producing a movie with WB (extra BluRay sales = additional revenue for old movies).

Except you get to keep the HD DVD disc, you just send in the cover. So ending up with both the HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs sounds like an upgrade to me.

Apparently you don't know the story: at the end of the book, the character turns out to like green eggs and ham. All you're really indicating is that you're closed minded about bluray and that we can one day expect you to make a complete reversal on your position, which, frankly, seems likely anyhow.

I'll need to remember to make scans of the covers so that I can put them back in once I send the originals to WB. Hopefully Universal does a similar thing soon.

Now if I could only exchange my HD-DVD player for $4.95...

It has value in the sense that HD DVD owners have or will migrate to BD, and this is a cheap way to "side-grade" part of your collection to a format that will be around for years to come. You'll be able to lend out the discs to friends, or take them over to their house to watch, without them looking at you sadly and shaking their head that no, they don't own that defunct format. You'll be able to play the discs on the new players you'll eventually buy for other rooms in your house.

Also, not everyone wants both an HD DVD and BD player hooked up to their TV. If every studio offered this for every HD DVD title, you could upgrade your entire HD DVD collection, use solely a BD player in the main room, and move the HD DVDs to another room. Or, sell off your HD DVD collection and player cheap, making up the cost of this upgrade promotion.

They're Universal, not WB. And yes, they are available on Blu-ray.

WB distributes the BBC Blu-Ray of Planet Earth. It's the version found in retail stores. Discovery produces and distributes the "US" version of the series, which has a big "Discovery" logo on the front instead of "BBC".
