It doesnt extend the warranty *BY* 2 years. It extends it to a total of 2 years, including manufacgturer's warranty. At least thats how I understood it when I bought my TV there.

You are 100% correct. Costco extends the mfr warranty and it makes the warranty a total of 2 years.

Yes that is right for the most part....
If the TV Costco is selling has a manufacturer's warranty AND that mfg warranty is 2 years or less Costco offers free additional coverage through their in-house Concierge service that covers TV purchases from the time the original mfg warranty expires through 24 months from the date of the Costco TV purchase.
If the TV Costco is selling has a no manufacturer's warranty (some of the ones they sell (ie Sharp, Vizio, and recently Sony do not per prearranged mfg's agreements) Costco offers a two year Costco Concierge warranty through their in-house Concierge service.
If the TV Costco is selling has a manufacturer's warranty AND that mfg warranty is 2 years or more Costco offers NO additional coverage ( IE the Pioneer Kuro)
Costco/mfg warranties for TVS sold at Costco should not be confused with Costco’s customer 90 day satisfaction guarantee.
Additional Things to remember about Costco Concierge warranties… The Costco branded AMEX card complementary warranty often gets misrepresented Costco employees as well as here by some others. The Costco branded American Express card does NOT offer any additional coverage beyond Costco's two year extended coverage for TV purchases at Costco. I have personally seen many Costco employees misrepresent this to sell TVs . The MAX COMBINED warranty coverage you will get from Costco and the Costco AMEX is 2 years for a Costco TV purchase PERIOD. Anyone stating different does not know what they are talking about. Now The Costco AMEX card DOES offer an additional year’s coverage on TV NOT purchased from Costco which his where the confusion originates from. However that card benefit is just the plain vanilla complementary warranty benefit AMEX offers with its other cards.

Costco does NOT extended the mfg warranty! If the original mfg warranty is less than 2 years, WHEN the original mfg warranty expires Costco supplements that original mfg warranty with their owm in-house Concierge warranty up to 24 months from the date of purchase for eligible Costco items. This supplemental Costi warranty is NOT an extension to the original mfg warranty. It has its own terms and conditions which may be contrary to the original mfg warranty terms.

I could not find any reviews. I just got mine home and have less than half hour watching but so far so good. Colors and skin tones look great. I have Comcast cable and I can't see any difference resolution wise from my 1080P LCD 120hz 47" TV.

I'd appreciate it if you could post any further thoughts, musings, etc in the morning...this sounds like a great deal.
A few more things. Manufacture date is April 2009 (this thing is fresh!). You can partially turn the TV on the stand. The full manual is on cd. SD is ok to good depending on the channel. Some reflections when lights are turned on and there are dark colors on screen. I have this in my den which gets a lot of natural light. I will be curious to see this during the daytime.

Tell that to all the happy owners of Panasonic 720p 50" tv's. Sure, at 50" you'll be able to tell it's not as clear as 1080p, but it's still going to look "HD" enough for most. If you sit 8-10 feet away, you'll be fine. Anything closer, you're better off with a smaller screen to begin with.
