Yes that is right for the most part....
If the TV Costco is selling has a manufacturer's warranty AND that mfg warranty is 2 years or less Costco offers free additional coverage through their in-house Concierge service that covers TV purchases from the time the original mfg warranty expires through 24 months from the date of the Costco TV purchase.
If the TV Costco is selling has a no manufacturer's warranty (some of the ones they sell (ie Sharp, Vizio, and recently Sony do not per prearranged mfg's agreements) Costco offers a two year Costco Concierge warranty through their in-house Concierge service.
If the TV Costco is selling has a manufacturer's warranty AND that mfg warranty is 2 years or more Costco offers NO additional coverage ( IE the Pioneer Kuro)
Costco/mfg warranties for TVS sold at Costco should not be confused with Costco’s customer 90 day satisfaction guarantee.
Additional Things to remember about Costco Concierge warranties… The Costco branded AMEX card complementary warranty often gets misrepresented Costco employees as well as here by some others. The Costco branded American Express card does NOT offer any additional coverage beyond Costco's two year extended coverage for TV purchases at Costco. I have personally seen many Costco employees misrepresent this to sell TVs . The MAX COMBINED warranty coverage you will get from Costco and the Costco AMEX is 2 years for a Costco TV purchase PERIOD. Anyone stating different does not know what they are talking about. Now The Costco AMEX card DOES offer an additional year’s coverage on TV NOT purchased from Costco which his where the confusion originates from. However that card benefit is just the plain vanilla complementary warranty benefit AMEX offers with its other cards.

This supplemental Costi warranty is NOT an extension to the original mfg warranty. It has its own terms and conditions which may be contrary to the original mfg warranty terms.

I'd appreciate it if you could post any further thoughts, musings, etc in the morning...this sounds like a great deal.
A few more things. Manufacture date is April 2009 (this thing is fresh!). You can partially turn the TV on the stand. The full manual is on cd. SD is ok to good depending on the channel. Some reflections when lights are turned on and there are dark colors on screen. I have this in my den which gets a lot of natural light. I will be curious to see this during the daytime.

Tell that to all the happy owners of Panasonic 720p 50" tv's. Sure, at 50" you'll be able to tell it's not as clear as 1080p, but it's still going to look "HD" enough for most. If you sit 8-10 feet away, you'll be fine. Anything closer, you're better off with a smaller screen to begin with.

I just saw this LG TV at Costco today. It was right next to a Sony 52" 1080p LCD (not 120mhz). It was $1599.
Another guy and I stood there for five minutes trying to see a difference and couldn't see any. The LG color looked a little better to me. I've been looking for a 50" TV, I don't think I can pass this price up.

I have owned this TV for about 6 months. Picture is very sharp and color is excellent. This TV has numerous settings available. Everything from sound to multiple color adjustments.
I was going to spend more than a $1000 more to buy a Samsung or Sony. Neither is worth the price difference. My only complaint is with the speakers built into set. I purchased a sound bar from Radion Shack for about $150 with a coupon. This makes sound like you would expect in a theatre.

You probably have the 50pg20 since this model was just released. I made the same mistake in looking for reviews. Don't know why they can't name models that are easier to differentiate. I came home for lunch today hoping to see how the picture was when the room was bright but just as I pulled in the garage it started to cloud up!

I am considering this set for our den that has a large window opposite from where the TV will be. I would love to hear your report on how much glare you get from your new set.

any experience with video game systems? i have a ps3 and am wondering if anyone with the tv or one w/ comparable specs notices any input lag... i'm weary of this w/ bigger screens.. but i may just have to for this price.

That movie I just watched was so vivid and clear. CNN HD is scary when they zoom in on Wolf Blitzer. MSNBC (STV) is okay but Rachel Maddow still looks good. And it puts my laptop monitor to shame. I can sit across the room and work on my PC very well.
720p = 1080i = HD
1080p = Blu-Ray ...only if a movie was recorded in 1080p. There are no cable or satellite sources xmitting in 1080p. Almost all are in 720p (the HD ones). Some are 1080i...which is 720p.

I don't care spend your money on hyped up specs. Perhaps in 2 years you can get the 480hz 2010pq. Its fatwallet after all....why go for a bargain?
I'm gonna ignore the stupid remarks and stay in the spirit of fatwallet...which is to share deals. This is a deal relative to the market and prices paid on these TVs a year ago. I paid 899.00 for my 50" Samsung 720p plasma in Feb. I don't regret the purchase. I love that picture. The TV is awesome.
Think about this: Buy a 720p today at 799 vs a 1080p at 1600. Next year they bring the 1080p down to 799 because the 2040t is out. Later you decide hmmm....I would like a TV in the bedroom. So you get the 1080p for 799.00 and move the 720p to the bedroom. Now you have 2 TVs for the same price.
For me it was not worth the extra cash. My new 720p looks great. (This is from a guy who lays down 3 grand for a roadbike....so everyone has their poison.) I just didn't think the extra cash was worth it on a 1080p TV....for crying out loud it isn't like its going to change my life to see more pores on Joan Rivers face. 720p is plenty good.
Do your research. Google "720p vs 1080i vs 1080p" there are plenty of forums where that discussion takes place. Go look at the sets and prices and see what is important for you. Perhaps having 1080p for 800.00 more is worth it like shaving a few hundred grams off a bike is worth a grand to me.

I totally agree. Even using an Infocus X1 projector (800x600 native res) watching 16:9 material displays 450 pixels, or 450p. 450p on that projector with HD material still looks stunning. This is coming from a guy who has a 1080p LCD and a 720p DLP projector.

Bought one yesterday. Nice picture. A bit glossy, but its going in the office as a third TV, so no worries.
Colors look great out of the box. I'll twerak it a bit with some settings off AVSforums.
I have a Panasonic TH-50PZ85U for the main TV, but for $799 and the Costco Warranty, this is a great deal.
Motion resolution on the LGs is historically pretty crappy, with most recent ones being about 17-26% less than full resolution. The new panasonics S and G series are full motion res, and the S isn't that much more than this. If motion-related issues bother you on plasma, I'd get a panny S-series instead.
