COLDPLAY is giving away free downloads of their album, both online and at their concerts
COLDPLAY LIVE ALBUM TO BE
GIVEN AWAY

FREE LIVE ALBUM AT SHOWS AND ONLINE
Hello again. We begin with the news that Coldplay will be giving away a live CD, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, at every remaining live show in 2009 (apart from festival shows). Starting with the band's first North American tour date, at West Palm Beach in Florida on May 15th, every fan attending a show will be given a free copy of the nine-track CD. Also on May 15th, LeftRightLeftRightLeft will be made available as a free download from Coldplay.com, for fans everywhere.

According to the band, the give-away is meant as a recession-busting mark of gratitude to everyone who's supported them: "Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans - the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen."

The album was recorded over the past year in various cities around the world on the Viva La Vida tour.

That track will be released in full on Hopkins' terrific new album, Insides , on May 4th. But it's currently available to download for free by clicking here .

WIN A SIGNED COPY OF THE LIVE ALBUM
The CD version of LeftRightLeftRightLeft will not be available anywhere apart from the gigs, but we have managed to nab one copy, which the band will sign, to give away to you folks. To win it, simply email your name and address to competitions@coldplay.com before Tuesday 12th May. One entry per person, please. The winner of the Coldplay iPod Touch from TCM14 was Paolo M from Croydon, UK (congrats Paolo!).

We'll leave you with an oddly compelling film of a chap playing In My Place on the new Coldplay Tap Tap Revenge iPhone game .

Ummmm...how about a link? That might be, you know, helpful or something.

will be made available as a free download from Coldplay.com

It's not available until the 15th, so a direct link right now may not exist... I would suggest checking Coldplay.com in 14 days and see what you can find.

News story at coldplay.com

Not available until the 15th.

Might want to fix your post's title to say 5/15 since 4 is April and 5 is May

Your title says APRIL 15

Heh. I might have posted five minutes too late, but I took the time to actually include the details (like the [correct] release date and album cover, neither of which was in the OP when it was initially posted).

Oh well. Guess HD isn't my thing.

I would only listen to coldplay if I received money for it

I liked Coldplay before everyone else did! You know, when their big song "If I Could Fly" was first released!

Ever since they dissed Satriani, Coldplay hasn't been on my play list.

fixed, thanks!

I love coldplay

Thank you for the info!

That explains why you clicked on this topic.

Know how I know you're gay? You listen to Coldplay.

40 year old virgin FTW!

The online download will be available Friday at 9:00am London UK time, which is 4:00am Eastern in the US, so about 3 hours from now.

Know how I know you're gay curious? You clicked on this thread.

it's available now!

55MB - the website is already slow....

This is the link: http://lrlrl.coldplay.com/leftright.php.
You get asked for an email address and your country. There's a checkbox for opting out of email from Coldplay.
(According to the privacy policy, the info you submit goes to the record label, EMI).

(FWIW, about a half hour after the album became available, I'm getting about 50KB/sec. download speed).

I think my download died at 73MB...doh.

By the way, for those of you who got "Viva La Vida", the following news item on coldplay.com might interest you:

Good afternoon. At either end of Coldplay's current album, you can hear a snippet of a track called Light Through The Veins by Jon Hopkins, the band's friend, collaborator and frequent support act. That track will be released in full on Hopkins' terrific new album, Insides, on May 4th. But its nine minutes of electro loveliness are currently available to download for free by clicking here.

Apparently, the track is still available for free download, though a different link than the one in the news item was required to get it, as described below. It's also freely available to listen to via streaming.

On the album's page, the track, "Light Through the Veins", is listed as free: http://digital.dominorecordco.com/search/release.php?RELEASE_ID=665

When I clicked on it, a new window opened at this link, where you can stream or download:
http://digital.dominorecordco.com/playlist/?TRACK_ID=5319.

This is the download link that shows up there:
http://digital.dominorecordco.com/buy/cart_req.php?ADDCART=5319.

This download link takes you to a shopping cart. You have to create an account (just first name and last appear to be required) and then you get to download it. Note: because the file is encoded as a 320 kbps MP3 (i.e. high quality), it's large--21 MB.

There's also a music video for the track on YouTube here.
More about the artist: http://www.dominorecordco.com/artists/jon-hopkins

Enjoy

Given that the download is only 55MB large, that's quite a trick

I noticed when I started a new download the size was smaller...mine said 88% done at 73MB. Maybe the "original" download included the track they have to remove that was mentioned a couple posts above.

The link for the download appears to be dead now...Maybe they decided to wait until the originally posted time of 9 AM to begin.

That "originally posted time of 9 AM" was for 9 AM UK time, which is the same as 1 AM Pacific time, 2 AM Mountain time, 3 AM Central time and 4 AM Eastern time.

So people have been downloading the album now for almost 3 hours.

Downloaded fine for me. Thanks!

For anyone who might care...

Tracklist:

 1. Glass of Water 4:43
 2. 42 4:52
 3. Clocks 4:40
 4. Strawberry Swing 4:16
 5. The Hardest Part/Postcards from Far Away 4:15
 6. Viva La Vida 5:24
 7. Death Will Never Conquer 1:39
 8. Fix You 5:38
 9. Death and All His Friends 4:22

worth it for The Hardest Part. I saw them live in Boston twice, this part of the show was amazing. The rest of the album kind of seems like a bit of an ego trip for the band. Can't really complain about a free album though.

btw, PM me if the link isn't working.

Is anyone else having trouble with the link. Firefox says can't find lrlr

Just tried clicking on and cutting and pasting the link, and it does not seem to be working.

Anyone have the same issue or another link?

Just did it and it worked fine in IE.
