do you need a real coupon or just give the code to the cashier?

macroman said: do you need a real coupon or just give the code to the cashier?

it's automatic!, and I believe, they tax on a precoupon price

macroman said: do you need a real coupon or just give the code to the cashier?

You will need the coupon or at least mention it to the cashier and see if they have it and use it.

It would be automatic if its instant rebate, otherwise you will need the coupon.

Good price but very likely not chainwide and therefore there should be a YMMV in there somewhere. Where is this confirmed working OP?

deal started today and will run to 8/31/09 - so no rush (unless they sell out! and it's very possible!) and it's a manufacturers IR / coupon - batteries are made in Japan / charger and adapters China - good luck!

Glenview, IL

Incidentally, price was the same when last time we had the coupon few months ago. This deal comes couple of times a year.

no need for coupon makes this sweeter - I always loose / misplace mine

I got in around xmas last time.

Sweet batteries, once I charged them all up I forgot about the charger and lost it. Batteries were great.

hmmmm got the new coupon book yesterday and I don't see the enleloops in there.

highly doubt it's YMMV good luck!

it's funny how i buy these batteries to "save the earth" but i now have a bunch of chargers that will end up in a landfill.

I'm on the fence to buy another one - but what am I going to do w/another charger ?!? or I can put one into every outlet in my house

i wish they had just the batteries..

but green for you.. if i didn't get in the Adorama $5 Sony ones a while back i would definitely hit this..

I'm guessing this isn't your monthly coupon book item if it expires in august. Those coupons are ususually only good for a 2 week to 1 month window. I wonder if they are the coupons that they give to you as you walk in?

I will try to walk across the street to costco to see if there is any mention of the eneloop deal.

Love these batteries. I think I now have close to 30 of the AA and 20 of the AAA for various equipment and not a single dud. My other experiences
with Rechargeables end up with anywhere from a third to half unusable within a year or so.

To piggyback on an Eneloop post rather than starting a new thread and for those who don't have Costco or don't need the charger.
HH Gregg has it's battery only packs on sale again. Online and B&M for AA, but it looks like only
B&M for AAA now (it had them online also earlier. AAA can be a bear to find -- 3 stores today and only one had any.

HH Gregg 4 AA -- $7.99

HH Gregg 4 AAA --- $5.49

EDIT: Online would incur shipping/handling charges as well as local taxes if required. B&M deals likely would end up
cheaper unless you buy in volume.

Don't need anymore personally; I already have 36xAA and 16xAAA, plus more C/D adapters and chargers than I know what to do with. Bought a bunch when they had the blue hard-case power packs on sale for $25; I love the hard-case for storage.

Remember to buy a good charger; something like a La Crosse BC700 or BC900. Run the "refresh" function on each battery at least once (even a new battery) and you'll get maximum capacity per charge. After that, just occasionally put the battery through discharge mode before recharging it.

UPS Ground cost of $9.30 kills the deal though.

Interesting.. I don't see it in this month coupon thou. Is it an instance coupon?

YES! it's an IR

+ s/h !!!

I just happened to goto Costco today since my mother is in town, and bought 2 packs.

It is 19.99 w/o the need of a coupon. It is an instant manufacturers rebate.

Amazing how my timing worked out - i've been looking for a deal on eneloops and kept missing them, or kept waiting for a better deal. I now have more than enough AAs, more than enough C and D adapters, and more chargers at home than I'll ever need.

May end up selling the Sanyo chargers!

So where is this $9 coupon from?

Can I buy this and return the one I bought few months ago for $28+ ? Will they object when the database bring up both purchases?

In case anyone didn't know.

Eneloops are different from regular rechargables in a good way. There used to be NiCad rechargeable batteries. NiCads lasted a long time and did not self discharge (discharged themselves just by sitting on a shelf not being used). This means they lasted 10 years or more because you only recharged them after using them. The battery manufacturers were aware of this and knew this was cutting into sales of batteries. Since a rechargeable battery can only be recharged a certain number of times before it refuses to hold a charge, battery manufacturers had to come out with a battery that discharged itself when not in use, thereby guaranteeing you would have to recharge it more frequently, which means you have to replace it more frequently. That's why they came out with the Ni-MH batteries. It wasn't because of the memory effect of NiCads as Ni-MH suffers from this too to a lesser extent.

For example. Let's say you used a Nicad in a camera and took one picture per week. The charge in the NiCad may last a year before it needed to be recharged. With an Ni-MH, the battery would drain itself while not in use. In a couple weeks or a month, it would be dead.
So now you are recharging the Ni-MH 12 to 26 times a year vs once for the NiCad.

Eneloops are different in that they hold 85% of their charge for a year vs 1% per day for regular Ni-MH. They can be recharged 1000 times vs 500 times for regular Ni-MH batteries.

Here is a good review of eneloop batteries.

cool thanks, confirmed at alhambra, ca.

Darn, wish it had more AAA's - need them for my learning remotes!

Darn, wish I had read this post before I left work. Oh well, there's a HH Greg a bit up the street and I've been looking for some more batts! Thanks.

bring receipt! good luck!

They told me to return the new one with the old receipt in such situation to avoid a return of an open item. They know that well so when you return it tell them that you bought the same item cheaper this time.

If you don't need the charger, try to give it away instead of throwing it away. If none of your friends or family need it, your local e-waste recycling program will probably try to find a new home for it.

Also, Costco sometimes has Eneloop kits without the charger for a cheaper price.

Where do you get this tin foil drivel from? Ni-NH supplanted NiCad because, among other things they offered higher capacities. If revenue were the determining factor, they could easily make any battery, NiCad or Ni-MH provide fewer charge cycles. Per your conspiracy theory, they never would have developed Li-Ion batteries either.

Actually, the discharge rate for NiCad batteries is not significantly better than Ni-MH. Further, "NiCd batteries, when not used regularly, tend to develop dendrites which are thin, conductive crystals which may penetrate the separator membrane between electrodes. This leads to internal short circuits and premature failure, long before the 800–1000 charge/discharge cycle life claimed by most vendors. Sometimes, applying a brief, high-current charging pulse to individual cells can clear these dendrites, but they will typically reform within a few days or even hours..."

I use these chargers to keep the regular chargeables always ready with trickle charge. Otherwise, they never have a charge when I need them, which is why I stopped buying them since the LSD's came out.

haven't seen them in a long time

I was looking for eneloop batteries only as well. Amazon has them pretty cheap...
