I think that, if you don't need/want the kit, HHGregg is the best deal. The price on a 4 pack of AAAs range from $5.50 to $7.00 depending on when they run sales. Personally, I wouldn't want just 2 batteries because I would want to have the 2 extras charged and ready to go when the first set of 2 runs down (i.e., no down time/interruption in using whatever device I'm using). If you are looking for just 2 AAAs to add to the 2 from the Costco kit, just 'suck it up' and buy a 4 pack or split a 4 pack with a friend who bought the same Costco kit (JK ).

...Where does the 9009 fit in? Where does the Maha Powerex fit in?My ranking:
Maha MH-C9000 (own - Jan 2009)
La Crosse BC-900 (own - Dec 2006)
La Crosse BC-9009 (same as BC-900; no idea why they introduced it)
La Crosse BC-700 (useful for AAAs only; insufficient 'Charging Current' for AAs)
If you own a SUBSTANTIAL number of rechargeable batteries and need to recharge them AT LEAST once every ~30-90 days, consider investing in a 'Smart' Charger. Otherwise, don't worry about it so much because they're going to die prematurely from either lack of use or old age anyway...
ewibolo said: I would be much obliged if someone could send me a couple of chargers. I will gladly pay for shipping! You *REALLY* don't want these chargers!
They are truly 'Bottom-of-the-Barrel' - low current / series (pairs) charging.
btw - very few packs were left in my Costco - good job FW!

unfortunately, hh gregg doesn't carry eneloops anymore. =(. or maybe it was just the one my friend went to. anyone else know of a way to get cheap singles?
ParatoOptimal said: Why do you prefer the Maha to the La Crosse? The Maha MH-C9000 has:
Break-In Mode (Industry-Standard Algorithm): Charge @ 0.1C for 16 hrs; Pause for 1 hr; Discharge @ 0.2C; Pause for 1 hr; Charge @ 0.1C for 16 hrs. Best way to activate ALL of the chemicals in a brand new cell and re-activate the ignored chemicals (i.e. when a camera shuts down while the cell still has remaining capacity and the user recharges it) in older cells. Maha recommends using it every ~30th charge, but since the majority of my cells are either 'Low Current Draw' (i.e. thermometers, clocks, remotes, Furbys when the grandchildren visit, etc..] or 'Storage Box Queens', I use it every 90-180 days followed by 3 'Refresh & Analyze' cycles @ ~0.75C Charge (with C)apacity based on the results of the Break-In - NOT what's printed on the cell) and 100mA Discharge.
Lower Max Voltage with a 2 hour 100mA Top-Off: Avoids overheating when cells miss -DeltaV termination but still finishes the charge cycle with a gentle 100mA Top-Off to provide optimum capacity.
Better spacing between cells: Runs cooler, especially at higher charging currents.
Finer current control for charge and discharge (see below): Allows me to control the heat on older cells.
Separate charge and discharge controls (see below): I can charge at 0.5 - 1.0C and discharge at 0.2C; not limited to 50% of charge rate.
Discharge Mode: Measure cell capacity without immediately recharging. Useful for 'Self-Discharge' measurements or to see capacity remaining after camera circuit automatically shuts down.

It's not just the one your friend went to, I posted this several weeks ago: jeffd said: I just wanted to let everyone know, I've been tracking the hhgregg prices waiting for the return of the $8 AA 4pk, but today it's gone from the website. I stopped by the store and was told they are no longer carried. Man, just 3 months ago and the store was stockpiled with the eneloops.
The website still has the AAAs 4pk for $6.99 and a charger combo, but no AAs. It may be some inventory clearout waiting on a stock reset, but I'm not sure. I remember them getting rid of all the eneloops only to restock them a couple months later.
I now think I should head back to the costco I returned 3 sets when I filled out the suggestion for the battery only pack sku. I may go by there tomorrow when I hit a BatteryPlus for a UPS relplacement.
was at costco today and the price tag got changed to a regular $28.99 - - don't know it it rings up 19.99 - hope it's still good - ! - cause it suppose to exp. end of August good luck!
I thought people didn't like the Maha MH-C9000 because it only displayed info on one bat at a time. Maybe you had to cycle through them to get to the one you wanted to check rather than just selecting it. I'm not sure.

I'm not sure.IMHO, the Maha MH-C9000 got its WORST press from 'NLee the Engineer' on Amazon.Com - he just didn't like it. AFAICT, since he bought the La Crosse BC-900 first, to him, the Maha MH-C9000 was 'too different'.
I've been using my MH-C9000 24x7 since Jan 2009 and I have no problem whatsoever with programming it and/or interpreting the results. On the other hand, I *DO* have several problems with my La Crosse BC-900:
Button Bounce.
Excessive heating (~110-120°F) of 1400mAh non-LSD NiMH AAs, even at 700mA, due to tight spacing (the same cells DON'T get as warm at the SAME current on the MH-C9000).
Unable to initiate a new 1000/700/500mA charge if the previous MAX was 700/500/200mA without interrupting a function "in progress".
If you want to read more 'User Opinions' about the MH-C9000 (besides mine!), visit the 'Batteries Included' Forum on CandlePower Forums and SEARCH.
Bottom Line: It's YOUR money - spend it however you like!
MISURICK said: bc900 is cheaper and as good !That's YOUR opinion and you're entitled to it.
Personally, when folks posts OPINIONS vs FACTS, I like to see either "IMHO" or "[OPINION] / [/OPINION]", but...
It's like comparing an old "Single-Speed, Forward-Only, 120VAC-Only" electric drill to a new "Variable-Speed, Forward/Reverse, Rechargeable Battery" electric drill - they both can drill a hole in a piece of wood. Therefore, the old "Single-Speed, Forward-Only, 120VAC" drill is just as good as the new "Variable-Speed, Forward/Reverse, Rechargeable Battery" drill.
Or is it?

Please try THIS EXPERIMENT and report back with your results.

anyone has a picture of the price tag w/exp. date ?! that way you may get the discount if you argue the discrepancy !

I went to two Costco's this weekend and none of them has any Eneloop batteries.

It's hard to find these at HH Gregg. When they hit the Akron, Ohio store, I usually buy as many as I can. After refreshing them (in a BC-900 or other good charger), they reach about 2100mAh. Absolutely an EXCELLENT battery, and I use them all the time.
Another very good battery if you come across it is the Sanyo 2700mAh. They're not LSD, so they do require more frequent charging. Some said that the Duracell 2650mAh is the same thing, but it apparently isn't. The behavior isn't nearly as good as the Sanyo.

My Costco finally got a shipment of these back in and they are 29.99 and I bought a 3rd pack yesterday ... I did not see a coupon, nor did they take $9 off at the register like another site said until the end of August 09. So, maybe there are some Costco stores that are taking the $9 off without a coupon but not mine! I do love these batteries and may get the D cell converters that use 2 of them for my flashlights at
