- Where is my fatwallet gig?

saw this in the Hartford areas as well..

Not sure if it applies to existing customers. If so, good deal..

I think this is nationwide. Its the commercial with Shaq & Ben Stein.

Good deal, though you gotta add like $12 if you want DVR service.

Did you read the rules of the giveaway? Just curious.

It was $15 for me to add the HD-DVR as a one-time activation, but then free HD-DVR w/on-demand for 12 months.

They hook you in like crack dealers and then pull the plug in a year.

It's on the Comcast's front page, www.comcast.com.

Says online only. Any one called the sales line for it?
Comcast site doesn't even list it to add it to the account.

EDIT: Looks like Comcast didn't like the link in VIP007's post above (looks like you appended an extra period to the web address there guy). I opened a new tab and went directly to Comcast and that solved the problem. The promo is indeed linked on the front page. I signed into my account and chose the SHOP tab at the top, then DIGITAL CABLE WITH ON DEMAND from the drop down menu.

Since I've been cruising on BasicBasic cable at $24 and change for about a year (just to get the discount on Hi Speed Net) I went ahead and signed for the promo. Very smooth via online chat, and I also was able to get the $31.99 install fee waived entirely. I am (obviously) an existing customer on the north side of metro Chicago, price was confirmed at $29.95 per month one year term subject to T&Cs and $75 ETF for Digital service with HBO. very nice upgrade with very little effort and about $5 extra per month, big thanks OP!

Thanks...you just made me sign-up with comcast again after disconnecting my service a couple of months ago.

I was able to waive the installation fee stating that I was a previous customer and I lost my job (which I did), but recently found a new one, and had extra money from my paycheck to cover cable expense. This is YMMV!

My zip is 94520.

I agree with kidCharlie. I just communicated with Comcast thru chat sessions and they added HBO to my digital starter (had signed for it last week; $29.99 for 12 mos) free of charge. I think chatroom specialists are more decent than those on phone. It is a nationwide deal.

"Hello to Bill Maher".

Thanks OP

No go here in SF bay area for existing customers. They wanted to charge me $10 for HBO for 6 months.
I decided to stick with my 1 year of free Starz. Wish I could have HBO instead though.

Thanks OP, got switched over from another promotion to this one.

does this include digital or HD cable box?

I got this deal a couple months ago as an exising customer:
03/26 - 04/16 Partial Month 6.95
04/17 - 05/16 Limited Basic 18.90
04/17 - 05/16 Dig Multiplex Box 3.40
04/17 - 05/16 HBO Promotion 0.00
04/17 - 05/16 Add'l Outlet 0.00
04/17 - 05/16 HDTV CNV/DECOD 9.80
Total Comcast Cable Television $37.05

I guess it's pretty much the same (assuming you don't get HD box with $29.99 deal), except that I don't get digial service (100-200?) and my hbo is free for 6 months, $6.95 thereafter.

I'm in the sf bay area, too. i used the 'chat with a customer service rep' feature on the comcast website to upgrade my existing subscription to this promo package. give that a try!

Digital Starter Package + free HBO + HDTV = $41.30/month after tax in northwestern Chicago burbs. One time installation fee around $40. New customer, ordered over the phone an hour ago. Green to OP

does the Digital Starter HD include all the HD channels? Comcast told me just now that it would only include local HD stations, not the whole package. True?

oppsie said: does the Digital Starter HD include all the HD channels? Comcast told me just now that it would only include local HD stations, not the whole package. True?

The Digital Starter package only includes local HD stations. You need to purchase the HD service add on for all the HD channels like ESPN HD, etc..

you guys are lucky to live in comcast area, freaken Charter never have promotions.

I've had comcast for over a year and using the website and chatting with the CSR was EASY! cut my costs by about $25 and got me some HBO!

Installation fee was waived, so instantly my bill dropped and i got HBO. The terms of the one year commitment aren't nearly as bad as Dish or DirecTV, and I've always preferred having comcast (despite its problems and pricing games).

THANKS OP!

If you have a TV with QAM tuner, you get the local HD stations without a cable box.

i currently have comcast and I tried to sign up for a 12 month deal.
This was my transcript with the chat person. Not helpful at all since the terms do not specify one way or another.

Edraly (comcast) > I have completely checked on your account details, you have digital starter right now already, you will not be eligible for the promotion at all since the services included is the same with what you have now.
Me > But the new terms do not prohibit current costumers from signing up
Me > I don't understand how I cannot sign a 12 month contact at a lower rate
Edraly (comcast) > I understand that, the services that you have right now is Digital Starter as well, the system will only allow current customer to get the $29.99 promotion is if they only have basic or standard cable service.

I may try again or give them a call.

Any channel that I get in SD, I also get in HD under this package. I.E. Food, HBO, Scifi, TNT, TBS, Loacals...you get the idea.

Im paying $120 a month for I think 150 or 200 channels, HBO, Starz and a DVR and internet. We don't have HD yet because out township won't let comcast install it or the phone. I know I am paying way to much, but comcast will not give me any deals to lower my bill.

can someone tell me if this offer $29.99/mo comcast digital starter is valid in this zip code 08540.

I will try this tonite for Boston area

highnndry said: you guys are lucky to live in comcast area, freaken Charter never have promotions.

I wonder why

Deal worked for me (via live chat). Already had digital standard so dropped bill by $25 a month. Also, CSR said you're only allowed 1 free premium channel (I got in on the Starz deal a few weeks ago). Gave me HBO for $1 a month! Thanks OP!

SUCCESS! Deal worked for me as well. I also did this deal via live chat. I had Comcast basic expanded in SF Bay Area @ 52.99/month - lowered it to $29.99 + HBO + $3.40(box lease)=$33.39. Saved $235.20/year. Thanks to the OP and the person who originally suggested using live chat.

Anyone in the SF Bay Area do an upgrade from Basic cable to this deal? Did you have to pay for 'installation'?

The chat rep offered to do it for me, but when I asked if there was an installation fee, he first said yes then no. I asked for clarification and then he said 'yes' again. Lame. Comcast lies about waving these fees so I'm hesitant anyway; they always charge them then make it hard for you to take them off, even if they promised not to charge them in the first place, so I said "no" to the deal. About a year ago, I had a $19.99/mo deal for Digital Starter for 6 months (with supposedly free installation) and they charged $60 for installation claiming I had 3 outlets. When I called to complain they said I had to bring in the written offer, which I of course couldn't find by the time the first bill arrived.

Originally they wanted $15.99 for an installer to bring the cable box out to my house. I asked them over the Comcast chat line to please waive the install fee as I was on my way to pick up the cable box myself. Comcast's local office is walking distance from my house - they agreed. When I arrived to pick up my cable box, I asked if I could get cable cards for my TiVo instead of renting a box - they agreed again and removed the box rental fee and gave me cards instead. I'll have to wait for the next invoice to see what Comcast actually decides to charge, but the agent behind the counter did confirm that my "standard cable" had been upgraded to "Digital Starter" + HBO @ $29.99 for 1 year.

Got shot down on live chat, though we currently have digital, HBO, DVR and HD package.

I am not sure what channels this promotional rate includes.

I will try again as long as we don't lose any essential channels. There are a ton of channels we have that I could care less about now.

Digital Starter should already include one digital receiver with remote for no rental fee. Did you get an extra box so they charged you for that?

Actually you can login to comcast.com and check the recent activity on your account. You should see any new charges if you've made changes to your service.

Success.

OP, you just saved us a ton of money - I politely told the CSR that we were considering switching to Wide Open West (which we actually were), because the bill has crept up so high, and she was extremely nice and totally cool.

Our rate now is about the same it would have been with Wide Open West for an internet and digital cable + DVR package (it's within something like $4 dollars), and we don't have to worry about the hassle of switching over, new equipment installation, etc.

We didn't have a contract with Comcast currently, so we are locked in for one year now, with a $75 early termination fee, but this was a fantastic post, and I really appreciate it.

Greenage.

Thanks! Also worked in 94014! Just signed up last Saturday and was able to get them to give 12mo of free HBO... Need to double check that I didn't get signed up for a 1yr contract though!

Just my 2c:

I tried to get on this deal the whole week and nothing-mind you, I had a similar but slightly better deal (digital silver + HBO) for the past 1 year. Then I cancelled my comcast cable yesterday.

Today I received a call from Comcast retention that made me think: Digital silver (or whatever it is called now, channels 1 - 200 + HD channels) plus all premium movie channels (HBO, Starz, Encore) for $39/mo for 6 months. They also told me if I get their Ultra tier internet (20/5) they will bundle the video package for $70/mo total for one full year. No contracts.

Now I am really not sure what to do: I had Verizon add their FIOS TV to my internet for $79, their standard promo package. They were super fast and already installed it today after I ordered it yesterday.

In the past week I have to say I have experienced very helpful, responsive customer service from both Comcast and Verizon, something I had never seen before (I had had terrible experience with Verizon customer service in the past; Comcast has been a bit better.) Something is really changing-or, maybe, they are just hurting for customers? So it may help to actually schedule a cancellation and see if you can get an even better deal.

Had to call my local office and threaten to quit Comcast to get the deal, as I already had Digital Starter.
(Could not get it via chat.)

Saving $30 a month + HBO. Woo Hoo!

Thanks, OP.

Holy crap why wouldn't you jump on the deal?
