def a great price on these. some reviews seem to be mixed. comes with decent looking MCE remote as well if you need one, making it that much sweeter. Not to keen on the USB though, and there appears to be no way to use standard connection instead of USB. I'd pick one up for the second machine (still rocking ~10yo Klipsch pro-media surround on the main) if it wasnt for that.
edit--- $29 shipping too, at least to NJ, making em north of $100. Still much cheaper then other places if you are after these though.

This is a deal killer for me. I'll never again buy a speaker set the can't take a normal cord from a soundcard (3.5mm, optical, coax or other). USB speakers are the WORST. It's not plug and play like a speaker should. It's especially a mess if you plug them into a laptop and trying to switch between the laptop speakers and the external usb speakers.
Shipping kills it for me, they want $53 for shipping. Ended up searching for it on eBay but refurb and was able to get it for $85 shipped. Was able to take another 8% off using CashBack.

I initially thought the price for these was good, but it seems that these speakers received pretty bad reviews from people who bought them for $80. I would do more research before making the purchase. I even checked Logitech's website for more reviews. Just to give a heads up.
I bought these speakers a few months ago for $80 from a local Tiger Direct store. I am very happy with them. The simulated surround sound works very well. The remote is very nice. They sound great. I agree with the reviews that say they are not very loud, but they are loud enough for my needs. These speakers, my laptop, my 27.5" Hanns G monitor and my junk Kworld USB tuner double as my home theater system. The only thing I would caution is that Logitech's packaging is very flimsy--no styrofoam but some kind of thin molded black plastic. I doubt very much that the subwoofer would survive UPS handling without extra packaging. Hopefully for the fee Tiger Direct charges for shipping they will put the Logitech box into a bigger box with lots of styrofoam peanuts.
I just wanted to point out that these speakers are now $60 at Tiger Direct aka Comp USA. I think it is a great deal at this price provided that you can pick up from one of their stores. I don't think it is worth shipping. I also think the remote control that is included works very well. It controls iTunes and Windows Media Player very well on XP. The ones at my store are brand new. Also as of earlier today live/bing had 15% CashBack for Tiger Direct. But I'm not sure if you can order online for store pickup.
Logitech speaker systems sound pretty good. I should know, I've had several. And that's the problem. They all break or die in a relatively short period of time - MTBF between 3 and 18 months.
Anyone have Consumer-Reports type stats on bi-amped/powered speaker systems that last say, 10 years or more? I'd rather buy them just once.
well if you are looking for real, quality speakers, you should get a reciever and some good monitor's. Any audiophile would take this over a pc sound system
