Yep, they do have that service for $2.99/month!! that's what they called the Premium Internet Radio. You'll just need to visit their website and type in your username/password and bingo! you can listen to Sirius programming on your PC. plus, you can use it on your phone as well. You just need to download the application. works for iPhone, Blackberry and Android!!!
My last radio broke after limping along for a while. None of the current Sirius radios seem to have that great of reviews on Amazon. I am curious to see what Howard is doing before I get back in, but for now podcasts and music make my commute bearable. I still think it is ridiculous that Sirius and XM are two different services. Just make one freakin service with Howard and O&A available. None of this "Best of XM/Sirius" garbage. And the fact they charge extra to listen through the net irks me as well. Lucky for them, regular radio is terrible enough to keep me looking to come back.
Howard is not what he used to be. First these one yr subs don't include him in the channel lineup basic, unless they changed something. The guy hardly works. He takes weeks off at a time. If he doesn't take whatever money they offer he is nuts and I would tell him to his face. Nobody is signing up for sirius to hear him anymore. That happened a few years ago when he first started with them. They don't want to lose a single customer, desperate. Customer billing practices are shady. If you don't call before term is out, watch out. They generate a ton of complaints. They settle because they can't afford any more complaints to a tty generals etc
Called in today, friend has a Mercedes with Sirius.. she wanted to get it activated. Every time she called all she got was a $156+royalty+taxes price for 12mo.
I told the CSR I had two active XM units (each on $77/yr deals)and wanted to add this to my account for $77. He told me the XM & Sirius activations were separate, and I needed a Sirius account to do this.. He went on to say the best price he had was $156+ all the extra crap.. I told him we Sirius in the Mercedes was not necessary, but would be a nice to have.. he said he could honor the $77/yr price, had to pay royalty & taxes.. was $91.xx...... he then wanted to add internet streaming for $2.99/mo, nope.
People have gotten better deals, but this was about half were we started an hour earlier.
My free 6 month trial expires January 8th. Called 866-519-7570 and asked for the $77/year. She put me on hold for a couple minutes and said I could get that. Total is $85 and change and they will send me an invoice. She did mention that next year I would have to pay full price (like hell I will).
I just got my quarterly bill after being on the $77 plan for a year. I called. Said "cancel". Told them "it's too expensive and I'd like to cancel". She immediately offered 5 months for $20. I asked what they had for 1 year and she offered $80. I took it. I know the math works better with the $20 price, but to relieve the aggravation of not having to call again in 6 months is worth it to me.
Sirius absolutely sucks. I paid in October for 9 months of service for $32.76. Then I get a bill for over $90 this month. After 30 minutes on the phone with "customer service" I figured out the scam. My nine months runs until July but they are trying to get me to pay up front another $60 for the extra 3 months of service since I am on a one year service contract cycle.
I explained that I am paid up until the end of July and I have no intention of paying $140 per year after that. I will cancel if they can't do better.

Exact same experience for me. Less than 10 minutes on the phone to renew for one year at the $80 rate.
I tried to get this and was informed that you need an ESN number to get this offer and that furthermore it wasn't an offer they would honor for my receiver (a radio that came in my Volkswagen Touareg TDI luxury package). When I asked the agent if she could offer me any kind of substantial discount with the radio I have she said she would talk to her supervisor, and came back on 4 minutes later with permission to offer the $77 rate (actually $91.94 with taxes and music fees) for a year but that it will automatically renew at the full rate after one year. Persistence was necessary to get this rate and I will have to call back in a year and threaten to cancel to avoid paying the full charge, but it was worth it and didn't take as long as getting nowhere on Sirius' customer service line took.
deallover said: If after say renewing for a year if I sell the vehicle, do they prorate and refund the money? TIA
They do IF you call them to cancel. I had bought a 2 year sub then sold that car with 6 months left on sub. I figured it was lost money so I never bothered to cancel until I realized the 2 year sub was coming up for renewal in 6 weeks. They credited me the 6 weeks. I lost out on the other 4 months though.
Call 866-527-6040 and you'll get someone in USA who can actually help you with your issue.
Say you want to cancel, when they ask why, say it is too expensive.
I got $77 for radio #1 and 1/2 off regular price for #2 as well! and 6 months free internet radio (though I did forget and got charged after 6 months, had to call to cancel)
edit: Forgot to mention the only reason I got 1/2 off the 2nd radio is because I still complained about the cost after they offered me $77 on radio #1
I only drive my car on weekends are rarely use the radio anymore, so I really do want to cancel since for me, it makes no sense to pay for this anymore. So I called to actually cancel, so whatever they threw at me I kept declining. So as a last resort they offered me free service until July 4th. So I took it. Lets see what happens when I really want to cancel again on July 3rd.
I had the $77.70 deal (or something very close) for one year ending in mid-June. I called today to get the same thing. The rep right away saw I had the deal last year so he offered me the $20 for 5 months, he told me he couldn't do the $77.70 deal since i was just on it. He told me after 5-months I should call to get the $77.70 deal. I've put a date on my calendar close to the renewal to try and get the deal for a year again. If I don't get it, I'll jump on the $20 deal.
I have been paying full price since Howard started at Sirius I currently have the stiletto radio and Sirius backseat. They both bill quarterly but at different intervals. Anyone with multiple radios getting this discount? I have paid almost $110 for 2011 at his point ...
I recently renewed the $77/yr rate (~$80 with fees added) for the 4th consecutive year for XM. If you do get this rate, make sure to put the renew date on your calendar and call next year just before it expires to renew. Otherwise, they will try and auto renew you at a quarterly rate of $40+.
I called to get this shortly before my service expired. The only offer the rep said he could offer at the time was the standard $120 a year. I let the service lapse, then about three weeks later got a call offering the $77/year deal. So the current incarnation of this deal may be for winback of lapsed accounts.
Edit to add: this deal was supposed to auto renew into whatever the standard pricing is at renewal, but it was easy to get the autorenewal waived.
I called today and was offered the $77/year deal. I have not had my radio active for over 3 years.I think that it is a fair price and agreed to the deal. Just wondering if anyone here has info on the settlement that Sirius reached and what benefits we get from it. On a side note, thanks to everyone in this forum who saved me so much on this deal. They also offered a 2nd radio for $77 and I took it. This is a good deal. I didn't ask about internet as Pandora is just as good and I didn't wanna hassle with it.
Last year when my wife's new car subscription ended we got the $77/year deal as soon as we mentioned it.
This year she got auto enrolled into quarterly payments at the list rate. I called as soon as we saw the charge. The rep on the phone said she'd look into promotions for us. When I told her what I wanted was the $77/year promotion as we had previously she told me that promotion was a one time only promotion and could not be used again.
I bluffed and said "Honestly, we hardly use the satellite radio and that at any higher than the $77/year it just wouldn't be worth it for us and I'd rather cancel." She offered to go speak to a supervisor and returned to give us the $77/year promotion price again.
I'm a week away from the end of my 3 month trial, so here is what I did.
I got a $20 off any item coupon from Best Buy's Reward Zone, so I used it to buy a pre-paid Sirius card. Then I called 866 519-7570 and chose "Cancel Service" Option. I told the CSR "I would be interested in continuing my service, but that your prices are just too high. I would like the 1 year for $77 plan." She asked if I had received an email with that promotion and I said yes. She then asked me to read the code that came with the email and I told her that I didn't currently have internet access. She then told me that while they don't normally honor promotions without the code (yeah, right) she would honor the promotion with me. Everything included (taxes and fees) was about $90 and when she asked me for my credit card number, I asked to receive an invoice (bill). She said that there is a $2 service charge per bill sent out. Fine. I hung up, signed on to my account online and redeemed by prepaid card. In the end, I got a year of Sirius for $70.44.
Three days from the end of my trial (with free radio), called to cancel, got 5 months for $27.30. ($25 + $2.70 royalty). Seems far more reasonable. Will call to cancel in november- if they don't give me an extended deal, I'll go a la carte.
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone here bought the Sportster 5 bundle deal in dec 2010?
The deal was buy the radio for $79.99 and receive the 1st 3 months free and the next 3 months at $7.49 a month.
After having 7 months of medical issues,I just got around to having my radio and antenna installed and went to activate the thing by phone and they said that My deal doesn't exist so I am basically SOL. I ended up talking to a supervisor and all she would do id offer 3 months free then $15.00 a month after that.
She said I should have had the radio activated went I bought it, yet the person who did the deal with me in January stated I can take as long as I want to activate it as the account has been set up because after all why would would someone pay for something they aren't receiving yet ?
Today the supervisor tried to tell me that the other woman misled me.
I accidentally forgot to call before mine auto renewed and it renewed at full price. I called 1-866-527-6040 and selected cancel. Connected to a service person and told them that I really enjoyed the service but at the full price it was just too expensive and and I wanted to cancel. She agreed to give it to me at the 1/2 price rate of $81.79 total for the year.
Just called, told them to cancel, $267 for two radios. They immediately gave me an $85.32 each deal for 6 months with 6 months free. So $82.35 for 12 months per radio. Thanks to FW going on 4 years with this deal. Plus a $20 credit for internet listening, so it was $12 for the year. Total, about $28 more than last years deal.
Called with a few weeks to go before they started billing me double; told them that I really couldn't pay that much, and took almost no effort for them to offer "1/2 price plan". After a credit for the few weeks ahead, my total came to $76.67; would have been about $85 if I had done it when it was actually expiring.
Called to renew radios 2 and 3 (first radio has Lifetime subscription). I had been paying about $58/year for each additional radio. The best offer the CSR could come up with was the $77/year price. So I told him to cancel the additional radios. He then magically found the $26.97 / 6 months (plus fees and taxes) price in his system. I took it. It comes out to less than $30 per radio for the half-year.
He wouldn't budge on free internet service, which I had been getting for the last year. So that did get cancelled. I continue to have the lower-quality stream online because of my lifetime subscription, but that won't work on my Android phone. I may call them again to try to get the free upgraded stream sometime soon, but for now I'll live without it.
At least I got a native English speaker in Omaha, not somebody in India (I called at 1PM EST).
My sub was up for renewal - they send me an invoice.
So I called - said that I called earlier this week to cancel, was made an offer to stay for $70 and I talked it over with my family and we will take the offer.
YMMV - but I got a super nice CSR who went out of her way to give me everything for almost half price.
At the end of the day she gave me a year of radio and online listening for $86 total due (She was in Central time zone .. I called about 5pm EST)
Thanks to all FWers that contributed to this thread. I was recently auto-renewed for one radio at $190 and would have been charged $28.74 next month for internet access.
Called to cancel and rep swiftly offered the half off discount for $77 a year. She would not further discount the internet service but I asked for a $20 service credit and she agreed. Here is the breakdown:
Radio service: $77 Royalty fees: $8.32 Taxes: $8.32 Internet: $32.98 Service credit: -$20 Grand total AC: $ 106.62 Savings: $112.84
My credit card will be credited for difference except the internet $20 is a service credit.
Called 866-527-6040 and talked to Lanna Foy. Gave her the "To expensive spiel" and and She immediately offered $100.00 I said that was still to high and she said let me check other options. She clicked over to hold for about 1/2 second and came back with $90.00 all inclusive.
I asked to be billed, she said OK with a $2.00 fee and I agreed.
Just a hair under 4 minutes from Her hello to my Goodbye.
I have a trial that expires on 4/1 and called today to see if I could get a cheaper plan. "Jennifer" asked me when I wanted to cancel the service and that was that. I explained it was expensive and even prompted for a cheaper price and was told the price was $14/month and another $14/month (forgot exact amount) for the internet radio. No go for me.. may try again later.
