Apparently, this is the 5th collection of free tracks that Urban Outfitters has made available--but the first 4 are still available--and you don't need iTunes to get them--they're just .zip files that you download directly from UrbanOutfitters.com.
Each collection has its own page, listing the songs/artists, with a big link at the top saying, "CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE MIX". Each of these 4 earlier collections has 21 tracks:
cogan, I just used those links to download 4 100mb zip files - however, I can't find anything that can open the zips correctly. Even downloaded the latest version of winzip without any luck - thoughts? I just got a "does not appear to be a valid archive" error message.

I gave you red because I listened to about a 4th of the songs and they sucked, no one in there right mind would listen to that crap if it wansnt there own kids band playing it.
lol, like it's his fault if you think the songs suck, and you didn't even listen to them all? He was just letting everyone know about a freebie, should give him a green for that alone or at least a neutral.
IMO, this doesn't belong in hot deals nor merit this much green. If it were any 23 songs or 23 songs I've heard before (ie, pop songs that people are more likely to be buying), then we could plausibly argue that this deal is worth ~ $23. As is, free mp3s can be had easily on the net--even legal ones.

Hi--sorry, I didn't get to this until now. I've just used 7zip (a free compressor/uncompressor) to extract the contents of 2 of the 4 zip files without incident. I'm wondering, if you're getting the "does not appear to be a valid archive" message, whether your downloads were somehow messed up.
FWIW, my file sizes for the 4 zip files are:
File name Size in Windows Explorer Size (in "Properties") Size on disk (in "Properties")
lstn1.zip 102,911 KB 105,380,611 bytes 105,381,888 bytes
lstn2.zip 104,563 KB 107,071,631 bytes 107,073,536 bytes
lstn3.zip 106,681 KB 109,241,130 bytes 109,244,416 bytes
lstn4.zip 112,021 KB 114,698,557 bytes 114,700,288 bytes
For some reason, looking at the file size in Windows Explorer gives different values than what you get if you right-click the file name and choose "Properties", which has values for file-size and also for how much space the file takes up on disk. Again, for some reason, both of those "Properties" values differ from the value that shows up in the Explorer.
Most of the stuff is much better than the mindless pop/wannabepunk drivel on the radio. Don't like it go listen to that crap. Thanks OP

I guess you are "sticking it to the prop 8 supporters" by not taking free music. Nice job on that one, buddy. Maybe you can go stand outside the soup kitchens next and not volunteer. I'm sure it will make you feel great about yourself

So if I post a hot deal "Come to my website to download 23 songs sung by me", would that make it a hot deal?
Absolutely terrible track descriptions. They not only tell you nothing about the feel of the song, they are also basically all arbitrary
for example:
If you were smart you would get yourself to LA, rent a car, and drive East on I-10 toward Palm Springs. Once you've cleared the airport traffic, put this Takka Takka track in the CD player, set the cruise control at 80 mph to keep up with the windmill farms, and turn the volume up to 11.

This is a great deal. If you don't like the artists then simply move along. I already have 4 of these artists' CDs... Grizzly Bear's CD debuted at number 8 on the Billboard charts so obviously some people value the music.
Thanks for the heads up that they supported Prop 8. Another reason to download some music. Might get some good songs and I get to show my support for their "association" to a good thing.

lowprice, you have stumbled on LSTN 6 before release! Attached is the song list. Muchas! Oh, and my Snagit missed most of track 25, "Where Do My Bluebirds Fly?" by The Tallest Man on Earth.

tampatonz said: Dead Deal. They want you to buy it now. if you go here. Link and rightclick "save link as..." you can download the tracks without using iTunes at all.
You can do it for all the music samplers.(1-6) Just insert the number of the sampler you want where the "5" is in the url.

You could just do this and bypass iTunes all together.
Free sampler #7 is out. You will need iTunes for this one for the time being. But in a week or two you should just be able to add "mp3" to the url to download straight from the index. It worked for samplers 1-6.
