Just know that plasma has lower light levels than an lcd. Also there is potential for image burn-in on a plasma. Although plasma tends to have blacker blacks than an lcd.

Or to translate into real world use blacker blacks means a better more 3D image than a LCD can produce. A LCD in this price range is not going to compete with the plasma in picture quality. I just replaced my bedroom set which was a 37" LCD with the 42" version of this Panasonic set. The plasma looks far superior. As noted burn in is a possibility but is rare unless one keeps a static image on the set for hours. This set does have a pixel orbiter to help prevent that from happening as well.
did you actually read the review? there's an issue of faint diagonal lines that would seem to be somewhat annoying to say the least.
Updated on May 28, 2009: The company got back to us with an explanation: "[Panasonic is] aware of the issue, but currently there is nothing that can be done to alleviate the lines. It is thought to be interference between the panel and front glass. At this time, a fix or software update to correct the phenomenon of the diagonal lines is not available. Engineers in Japan are continuing to study the phenomenon and investigate possible solutions and/or countermeasures."
I have this TV and it is awesome. There are no lines on my display and there is a lengthy thread on AVS discussing this model and the 'lines'.

I bought this exact TV from Newegg a couple months ago for $800 flat. Next to my Sharp 52"1080P, I can't tell a major difference and the sound is much better. No lines....
Personally, I got this one... for $1080 after the 10% off... but another good deal is the 42" 720p Panasonic plasma.. If you are going to get a plasma, Panasonic is the way to go in my opinion.

I would go with Sears...Price was $899 and I got 20% back on a Sears GC. Don't know why anyone would go with another store if they were interested in this TV.
