Saw this at sd and wanted to share the love. It is said to be in factory sealed, new condition. There are no details on the warranty listed (or even if there is one).
The WUXGA screen and the XPS eye candy may appeal to some, it is definately a very heavy laptop and in this case not the powerhouse dual sli XPS that gamers love, that said - it is $600.
price is not bad even for refurbished. cowboom is suspicious

The reseller ratings are not favorable for this site. Besides it seems to good to be true. I'll pass.

Pretty sure it is. Looks like these may be overstocked M1730's originally intended for Best Buy. Dell is phasing out the m1730. The question on the warranty is a big one though.

. I don't think you need a warranty for $600 m1730 laptop. if it fails you sell it for parts and pull another out of the closet.

Probably because these XPS's rarely come up in deals or go on sale.
The 8700m is a midrange card and the laptop is big and very heavy. It does have all the fancy XPS bells and whistles (including good build quality) but it lacks the teeth of the dual sli cards. It is very hard to find another new laptop with 512mb dedicated graphics and wuxga screen for $610 shipped. I would say near impossible.
. mcwhitman, you don't need to defend your deal. It is a very good find for a FW hotdeal. you are gonna be surprised when you get one and see how nice it is.

This even has a WUXGA (1920x1200) display...one of the few 17" laptops that is really worth buying! I don't understand why people buy craptastic 17" laptops with 1280x800 screens. Unless you have really poor vision, then there's no reason to get a huge laptop with a low-res display. Get a 13-14" (or if you have to, 15") instead.

You bet it does have the teeth of the dual sli 8700 cards. This is Dell's top of the line mobile laptop originally sold for 4,000! Yeah, it's big and heavy cause it's armed to the teeth. The AC Adapter alone is heavier AND bigger than most small laptops!!! You can get this for $600 maybe 5 years from now. When something is too good to be true, it won't be good.

Now the web site says $1,456.99+ $22.49 shipping,I don't see $599.99 Link
* Best Available is based on product condition and items included Dell XPS M1730 17" Laptop C2D 2.2GHz 2GB 250GB DVDRW WiFi
Intel Core2 Duo mobile processor T7500, 2.2GHz 2GB DDR2 memory, expandable to 4GB 250GB Serial ATA hard drive (5400 rpm) Multiformat DVDRW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support 17" UltraSharp WUXGA high-definition widescreen display NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT graphics Built-in 2.0-megapixel Web cam 8-in-1 media card reader supports Secure Digital, Secure Digital IO, Secure Digital High Capacity, Secure Digital HD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, MultiMediaCard and xD-Picture Card IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface and 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports Standard Wi-Fi Catcher Integrated 10/100 Ethernet network card Weighs 10.6 lbs
Right now, the base XPS M1730 is $1200 at Dell before any discounts. The only difference with this config is a smaller faster HD but a more power processor. And Dell throws in a free XPS notebook backpack too!
so, I ordered one, got it today, Dual 8700 SLI with Physics Processing Unit Manufactured date: 1/29/2009 Now time to transfer warranty from bestbuy to me! The deal is for real. Thanks OP, sorry for doubting you!
