I read 28 positive reviews on this set on the Best Buy forum so I was excited. now I am wondering if Plasma is a good way to go. I've got the previous version PN42A450A in my home office. It is outstanding! Great colors and blacks. I also have the Samsung LN46A850 (LCD) in my family room. I've had it calibrated and it truly has an unbelievable picture but it also cost ~3x as much as the Samsung plasma. IMO you really can't go wrong with the 42" plasma. |

I've had my Samsung for a week now, and had 0 problems. No image retention what-so-ever. It makes a slight buzzing sound that can only be heard if you stick your head behind the TV, which is typical of plasmas. I can't hear it even with volume at it's lowest setting. Standard def TV looks amazing, since this set is only 720p, it doesn't stretch the hell out of the picture like 1080p would. The menus are very intuitive, with a lot of options. The swivel stand is absolutely great for getting behind the set to plug/unplug things without fear of knocking over your TV. I hooked my kill-a-watt up to it and measured the power usage. It ranged from 75 watts to 130 watts depending on the contrast and energy saving mode the TV was set in. My old Sony 27" this set replaced used 75 to 100 watts, so I'm happy with this figure.
It's back again at Sears.com too. |

These tv's just showed back up again but I can't figure out any good deals besides the 5% mail in or 15% Sears gift card with Sears card. The 10%/20% one ended a few days ago. I'd really like to find one with no mail in before I bite. It is good that it still has 8% live.com CashBack though. |
