Walked into a neightborhood Bestbuy and was able to talk to the manager there.... I mentioned that I saw a 50" plasma 720P samsung or panasonic panel they had on display for $899 online for $799. He obliged and adjusted the price the Panasonic TC-P50X1 down to $799 and $99.99 for in-home delivery. Total was $899 + tax for the panel. I like the convenience of having the store by my house if anything goes wrong with the TV and I am sure that I could have said no to the home delivery and picked the panel up myself for $799.99 + tax. Probably will get red since it's YMMV, but hey it's worth a shot if you're in the market for this TV.
EDIT: I am going to try to get another 10% off using this coupon....I bet they'll honor it - http://img.dealspl.us/images/coupon/1242070092_6655.pdf
This would make it $799.99-$79.99=$720+tax+delivery
EDIT: Newegg has it for $879.99 free ship - users gave it 5/5 LINKAGE
EDIT: Even without the $799.99 adjusted price you can get it for $899.99-89.99=$810 +tax which still makes it better deal than I've seen.
Cant find it online for 799.99. Online price is also 899.99 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9219062&st=tc-p50x1&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218061797099
My brother had said that he found it online for $799...but it is possible that he was mistaken. But, that being said, the manager did adjust the price down.
Sears has it for $899.99 as well but if you use a Sears credit card you get an additional 10% off. Much better to deal with Sears than Best Buy. 899.99 - 90 = 819.99 + tax. They also have free delivery for 40"+ HDTVs right now.

not a great cnet review, however - complaints about faint diagonal blurry lines that Panasonic acknowledged.
