It's listed as 349.98, but after you add it to your cart and then proceed to checkout, the order will reflect a $120.00 "coupon" discount, which brings the grand total to 229.98+tax. This item also qualified for free next day delivery (63 pound printer!).
Additionally I was able to use a $25 off of $100 Staples coupon that I received in the mail (just making note that the instant rebate "coupon" will stack with a Staples coupon you may have received in the mail/email/etc).

I know no one has a time machine, however it will help pricing it correctly.
This was able for $50 after rebate from Micro center. I got it for $50. It is a very heavy machine. I had to take it out of the box to put it in the trunk of my car.

Also for pricing correctly, the HL-4040CDN (with duplexing) was available in Canada from Bestbuy last week for 199, I price matched with Staples and used a coupon and got it for $180 taxes in.

NCIX also has the 4040CDN for < CAD$ 200 today. What is with the crazy prices for this item in Canada, I wonder.

I'll give a fair review of this printer since I have owned one in my business for about 10 months. Text quality is very good. Graphics quality is average to below average, color tends to be very washed out. Paper feed tends to be very good, with very few jams. Seems sensitive to glossy finish papers, will cause significant toner smear. Speed is good for this class. Consumables are very high since the sensors on the cartridge demands a change well before the toner is actually empty. There are tricks such as putting tape over the toner's sensor to help the situation. I could not find any generic toners for this printer, at least locally. Our printer literally went up in smoke after 10 months of heavy printing (~500 full page color prints/month). Electrical burn out for some reason. Things to keep in mind...the printer has a 1 year warranty, but the warranty doesn't cover the drum past 90 days. Most problems will somehow involve the drum. Brother claimed that the electrical short in ours was related some how to the drum, and would not cover the repair. I have a Dell 3100dn which prints sharper, is much more economical, and much more reliable. Not to crap the thread or anything, but I didn't have good experiences with this printer.

Thanks Next for the details. Major bummer about them blowing off your warranty repair. I went to OfficeDepot yesterday, and looked at a sample printout from a 4040CDN (same printer but with duplexing, as I understand it), and I actually liked the more subdued color. Reviews on Amazon/Newegg for these printers are generally very very positive, so I would still give it a go, especially if I could get one for near $200.
