This is Internet alone, no Cable or Phone service require.
Call 1800COMCAST, and mention the AD from newspaper. (it's regional, YMMV)
I called this morning, just trying my luck, since many have mention being turn down by reps. Mention saw the AD from San Jose Mercury (mention your local newspaper, if you are not from Bay Area/CA) and got it confirmed on the price, $19.99 // 12Mbps for whole 12months plus $25 installation fee and with no contract!!
My friend's paying for 12 megabit and he's only getting about 7.5 and he's in a new housing area. I am getting the same cap and i have seen speeds up to 12 megabit about half a year ago. Comcast kinda sucks for that plus they have that stupid 250 gigabyte cap which AT&T doesn't have.
Oh and they recently called me and left me a voice message saying they're upgrading everyone to 50 megabit for free. Yeah right.
Yet agreed, I pay for a higher level yet I don't get those speeds. I run regular speed tests and also have frequent connection drops, its more of a big F.U. from comcast.
PS: If you need them to send a tech out to fix a line for some sh.t they broke themselves, they now try and charge you $20. You have to "buy insurance" from them for $1/month to prevent them from billing you $20/incident. Oh, and they don't tell you that till afterwards and the CSRs are incompetent and don't know what a license agreement is.
Just a heads up. For those of us that have no options except the monopoly that is comcast, it's like getting r.aped over and over and saying Please give me more! I personally like when they hang up on the phone on you when you call support or when they waste 45 mins of your time telling you to continuously 'power cycle' your modem like that'll fix both tv being out and cable internet being out.

I only have access to Time Warner and I'm paying $45 a month for lesser service. I wish I had Comcast or ATT in my area.
thanks op! just signed up for the deal, i live near san francisco on the peninsula
fyi: it's an extra $3/mo to lease the cablemodem from them unless you have your own

has anyone combined this with Comcast's free basic cable for 12 months when you sign up for internet or phone? That'd be great for people that only have rabbit ears connected to a digital converter box...
If you go down to Bestbuy stores on weekends, you can get this deal at anytime plus you get $75 rebate. I signed up at the Emeryville a year ago and SF Harrison store last month.

master10 said: those speed are only for docsis 3 areas
Not true. I'm 50 miles south of Chicago with a docis 2 and have 12mbit. I run right at 15mbit when I down load from newsgroups. And not comcast newsgroups. I can d/l 5gig in about 50 min.
You guys are lucky but all I can say is right now I'm downloading at 455-755 kilobytes/sec and it is using up all my bandwidth so I can't even remote in to my computer any more. That is pathetic for cable. Hopefully whatever "upgrade" they did to the fiber optic lines is going to have some effect on the bandwidth soon.

I'm currently on this deal. I've had some crazy download speeds too.
Edit: I don't get this package for $19.99/month though.
The best I could get in Chicago is $42.50 with free basic cable and $25 for installation. It's is 12 mbit/2 mbit. With power boost it is more but it lasts only few seconds.

For those in the Bay Area, how reliable is their comcast service? I have ATT dsl and never really have any down time or problems. Thanks!
I already have Comcast broadband and cable in the foothills above Sacramento, but I thought I'd try walking through online and playing dumb on the $19.95 deal. Got to the Chat closer and she said she couldn't give me the $19.95/mo for 6 months but she could give me Blast (16 megabit, supposedly) for 12 months at $29.99/mo. Being that I've been paying $52 or something per month for years for less speed I felt pretty good about saving about $20+/mo for a whole year, especially if my speed picks up a little. I haven't reset the modem yet - I want to do a before and after speedtest on DSLReports.com.

I'm not in the Bay Area so this may be worthless to you. I am between three and four hours away by car though and my Comcast service has been very reliable. The only real downtime I have experienced was due to very severe weather.

being a current customer they offered to put me at 29.95 a month for 12 months for the 12Mbit speed
Beware Comcast if you're a heavy downloader. I downloaded 400GB in a month and their 'security dept' called me, telling me if I download more than 250GB next month my service would be canceled. By my calculations if I used my full bandwidth I'd hit that limit in a week. Further, they didn't provide any method of monitoring my quota. I switched to WOW (Wide Open West) and haven't had a problem since.

I don't know man but I think they cap your modem rather than the IP address since I've obtained maybe 5 ips within the past 2 months and have seen 0 speed difference even when I had an ip starting with 98 instead of 24, it was the same (slow as DSL) speed.
Speedtest is saying otherwise though, it says I'm getting 14.02Mb/sec down and 4.59Mb/sec up. That can't be right though because I never see those numbers anywhere I download from.
Huh? Astound used Concord, Ca and Minneapolis, MN as their first two cities to establish service in. You use the term East Bay, way too liberally.

This deal has been going on for months but you have to ask and be a totally new customer.
As far as TV goes I don't believe they can filter out all the channels so you may get something. I know in some areas people with QAM tuners in their digital TVs have been getting a dozen or more free channels.
There actually was a secret deal back in February where you could get cable and internet for $24.95 a month for one year.
Oh and if you have consistently slow download speeds ask to swap the modem or have an investigation of usage on your neighborhood hub. Comcast still has modems out there that are capped at 10Mbps.

I'm paying $17.50 for 6.0Mbps ATT. Tell them you'd cancel if they don't lower the price or some crap like that. I got this offer for 6 months now. But I'll call up again after 6 months.
Your argument is valid for the rep you get, and not the actual standpoint of AT&T or even Comcast or Clearwaire, for the sake of argument.
