Seems like a very basic unit.Crazy, I can't even find benchmarks for this particular processor, and I certainly didn't get any search results for it in the PassMark list. I'd guess that this is a pretty scary-slow processor given that the machine is so basic - but still probably adequate for light use, e.g. wordprocessing, websurfing, email. |

Too many rely on the "numbers" For most the processor is just fine.
And what kind of a dumbbell looks for the bottom end pricing for something they want/need as top line. |

They may have refurbished with problems for this price. STAY AWAY from them and their new company COMP USA. If it has a rebate...you will never see it. |

This is very similar to the $300 emachines that are on sale at Microcenter or OD earlier. The differences are the screen size (15.6" vs. 14.1" in the emachine), and card reader and no web cam. Don't be fool by the "AMD Athlon 64 TF-20 1.6 GHz," it is the same slow 2650e which is single core, and 65nm. Chipset is the old 690v, so don't expect to do anything graphics intensive on it (barely good enough for windows aero (irrelevent) and 720p video playback). |

Yes, its a basic laptop, I thought that was covered earlier in the thread. But for $299, are you really expecting a 5ghz processor??? Its a good deal for a good laptop. EDIT: Majority beat me to the punch |

I just assumed it was dual core but was not sure. OK, so now I know it is single core. Still a very good deal IMHO. I bet it will play movies just fine . . . . . . just not modern games. Gamers have to pay more than this for the machine they need. Most everyone else will do great with this laptop. |

Makes me wonder if this is even a good deal (not that I'm looking for a hot deal). |

Should have said this but I'll say it now. I'd like to find something under $400 with a dual core but I guess that's wishful thinking! |

Junk laptop, low specs. Agreed warm at best. Low end. Get a netbook, better performance. Or buy one from Tiger with Bing CashBack with better specs for lower price or same price. |
