Ok, Staples has updated their ad for 7/5. Now it shows the $299 Laptop.Acer Linky to ad.

Item number 805292 is not available online. Does anyone know how to check store inventory?

Might be a problem finding this laptop for some people since here is a email I recieved just now:
"We apologize. The email we sent yesterday featured an Acer® notebook and Acer® wide screen monitor that may not be available in your area. However, we do have other great deals available at your local Staples. Click here to view your weekly ad".

Looks like a ymmv deal now.

It was known that not all stores will have this item.

This deal, does not apply to CA. I just got an email, saying they were really sorry for the mistake. Too bad.

Sorry!! I'm new here!! I have been reading all 5 pages and still don't understand what's the deal here for $299 + Tax 9.75% CA ($27.66) + CA E-Waste ($16) = $342.66 for an Acer Basic laptop? What am I missing here?

The fact that you live in California, for me it s $299 OTD.

But it is all relative,
no matter what model you buy at any price you have the BIG Terminators (Arnolds) add ons.

Maybe $765 isn't exactly bottom end pricing, but I think the 8710w counts as top line.

Staples is hurting themselves, first they let the country know of the $299 Laptop...
Then they say, but not for the WHOLE country.
If they only have 10 per store, those would sell just by having a sign when you enter the store of the offer.

It's like the car dealers (one only at this price)
That only one would sell with no advertising of it.

I got this retraction email as well. It looks like my "other great deal" is a case of Hammermill paper for $29. Thanks, Staples... that'll entice me into your store.

Was a AMD only man for many years. But they fell behind Intel the last few years.... my last home build a year ago (Intel e8400). BUT we need AMD in the market place ... or Intel will be holding us all hostage.
