you sell only one of the lens? i was trying to point out that you can have a rebel xs body for $386. or if you already own a canon dslr, sell it but keep the lens and upgrade to a XS for about the same price as your old camera.
looks like those rebates are from cannon spring sale at Amazon.com....i make this combination: xsi+55-250mmIS ,at checkout it is around $750 ,any one give me some suggestion on this combo? i am new for DSLR...thanks a lot ...
I think I like the xsi w/ the kit lens and 55-250mm IS lens for $725 (or ~$140 more). What do you all think? I'm thinking of using it for family, vacation, and some sports pics. I'm thinking the extra focusing and the IS on the tele lens is worth $140 right?

People who can spend more and wondering about buying xsi might also consider t1i. Difference in image quality between xs and xsi is negligible (according to reviews on dpreview). However, if you want a camera for family and vacations, full HD video feature and DIGIC4 processor give an edge to t1i over these cameras. You can buy t1i from TigerDirect for $739 (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/934796) and spend a little more for the lens.
Thanks for the info stricken, but at $740 for the body only and then having to purchase 2 lenses, it pushes it beyond my budget. I've also got an HF100 HD camcorder, so I don't need that in a dslr. With this in mind, would you think the XSI for $140 more and what I think is a better tele lens is worth it?
If you have the budget for XSI, I would say go for it. Since you also planning to use it for sporting events, it has a plus over xs on that area. As I am not sure about giving hyperlinking is ok here I will send you a pm for url of a page where features of both are compared.
for the tele lens the price is variety too...i mentioned the 55-250mmIS will cost about slightly more than $200,but you can still find one around 150 or even less on Amazon such as 70-300iii tele lens ...but everyone i asked told me that the IS function is very useful....
anyone tell me if the filter gonna make any diffrence while using with the lens? well, here i am talking about the cheap lens like canon 55-250mmIS for beginner. thx
