EDIT: That is an honest question. I really don't see any point in having one anymore?

number of reasons:
1) convinience of having a handset in every room of large house, combined with extra conviniense of what multi-handset phones provide, like intercom and room monitor.
2)Having young kids or old people who have trouble to operate cell. phone
3)cheap voip service offering unlimited calls to anywhere in US/CANADA/EUROPE etc like boroadvoice.com not restricted by xxx minute plan or international plan
4)reliable service where cell phone coverage is weak and providing a backup for the cell coverage interruptions.
5)reduced amount of microwave radiation and heat from cellphone compared to land line experienced during long calls.
...
Did I name them all?
get an xlink or GE cellfusion and you can use your cellphone on any traditional phone in your house

1. Call quality is better using landline, even VOIP has better call quality. When I talk to someone at home I don't want to have to deal with sound quality issues.
2. Some people don't have good reception for their cell phone at their house
3. My cell phone plan has only 500 minutes.
4. Multiple receivers in your home. You don't have to run around looking for your cell phone to take a call.
5. You collapse on the floor. Do you want your kids or whoever is there with you to try and figure out how to use your cell phone to call 911?

That's weird, I tried Malaysia and it was fine.

I tried to south east asia country and did not work. it kept asking me to dial the number everytime I entered the number. Do I need to enter 011 infront of country code like calling card. Thanks

You don't need to enter '011'.

If you live in USA, How can you use 1-800-FREE411 to make free international calls ?
