None, Zero, Nada. It's all paid for. You don't have to pay for gas, don't have to pay for insurance. All included.

For the SF people I saw either a $70 or $100 driving credit in the downtown BART stations.

I am a current user. Deal is good for new users.

There is a gas card inside the car.. so when you run out.. go to a gas station and fill it up.

a-max doesn't know how to contribute to the FW community. Perhaps by fixing the links in Quick Summary?

Go away, troll.

Can't we sign up for one of the cities and then use the cars in another city? I would also be interested in the 70-100 codes!

thanks a lot! i used to be a member a few years ago, but they still don't have a location near where i live. once they do, i'm in. they used to have utility vehicles which are handy of you need to get or move something that doesn't fit in a car.

So...I'm having a tough time finding the answer to this online. Does any Zipcar subscriber have an idea what the real world cost of these things are on top of the annual membership cost?

Let's say, I used the car four times in a month to drive 50 miles each time, what would I end up spending?

It really depends on how LONG you rent it. They have hourly rates, and daily rates. Also, depending on the type of car you select, the rates can be as low as $6 or $7 and as high as $10 or $12 (at least in Philly).

In my experience, car shares are great for short trips for errands, but if you want to make a day trip, it may be more economical to look into a standard car rental. For a weekend trip, I think a car rental would be cheaper.

Again, just my opinion, but you need to do the math.

It all depends on how long you had it out for. Let's say you took it for 4 hours each time, at ~10/hr, you'd pay 40 each time, so $160 a month.

In DC, they have different rates depending on the vehicle and the demand. Can go as little as 7-8/hr, with most being about 10-11, and some snazzy cars (BMW 3 series) going up to 15/hr or so. For the occasional driver, it's a really good deal. We use it in place of a second car and it winds up being considerably less than parking, insurance, etc would be.
