I just wish the new E72 had a full sized screen with a slide out keyboard. I'd go for that in a heartbeat over the iPhone. I just can't deal with the tiny screen on the E71. |

I can only find $280 for grey & $299.99 for white at Dell. Both are before tax.
Where did you find $240? I know how he got it at that price there is a stacking 25% off and 10% off coupon from Dell small business that will make it 240 I guess.. |

If 3G isn't the critical factor, I would check out the E90. It has become more affordable lately. One of the best, if not the best (IMO), phones ever made. While some might raise eyebrows on account of size, the E90's form-factor is much much better than candybar qwertyphones and infinitely superior to full-screen phones. I wouldn't normally have posted this but several comparisons with other phones are already going on. That said, the E71 is indeed nice. |

The e71 rocks, and the e71x has been castrated. The Flash player has been taken out, you cannot to my knowledge load S60 that you can find in huge numbers on the web, you are stuck with AT&T's GPS software and cannot use Nokia Maps, the built-in crapware that AT&T clutters the screen with cannot be removed or deleted, the camera is facing the wrong direction and the camera flash has been removed, you are stuck with a $30 per month data plan versus a $15 per month data plan if you add the unlocked e71 to your account correctly, and the list goes on... The data plan savings alone make up for the difference in cost between the unlocked e71 and AT&T's e71x with a 2 year contract and its data plan! |

Went with the E71x when we signed up for a family plan and wifey got an iPhone 3G 8GB refurb. I wanted something I could use on wifi and didn't want to pay for a second data plan. The E71x was a great phone for anyone who emails/texts a lot. The build quality and screen were very nice. In then end I eBay'd it and bought a used iPhone 2G. Audio/Video, games, web surfing and apps matter more to me than email/texting, so I'm a lot happier with the iPhone. The only real criticism I had of the E71x is that like most all devices of this format, its actually a pain to use as a phone due to the numbers being superimposed onto the itty-bity keyboard. I found the keyboard pretty nice for texting, but tiresome for dialing. The only other complaints were related to the locks ATT put on the E71x that are not relevant to the unlocked E71. Rob |

Most of the issue you mention can be solved, but it takes quite a bit of hacking. For me I decided if I was going to hack it might as well be on an iphone. It is worth noting that you do have the option of no data plan on the E71x (unlike the iphone w/o hacking), which for anyone who spends a lot of time with wifi coverage is not as crazy as it might sound. |

I've been watching Nokia E71 prices noticed they are starting to drop slowly, probably due to the E72 coing out soon.
A mazon was $320, now $310...Update, now $280 E71 at A mazon
D ell was $300, now $280 E71 at D ell |

You purchase an unlocked e71 and then activate it with your old SIM card from a non-PDA phone. Add the $15/mo non-PDA unlimited data plan. Now put the old SIM in your new unlocked e71. Viola! Unlimited data for $15/mo. $15 x12 --- $180 per year savings. x2 --- $360 saved over the 2-years you would normally be under contract. The savings PAYS for buying the unlocked e71. Yes, you pay more up front, but save a ton on the back end. Plus, you can always sell the unlocked e71 on eBay and upgrade at any time, or even switch carriers without any hassles or ETF's. |
