I'm with them now, they're terrible. Constant downtime. I've already had two this month. Sometimes the servers are unresponsive due to over selling. But you can't beat the price. So if you're doing anything critical go elsewhere. My freehost is better than them. Also, they always have sales that say 1 day only but they do it all the time so don't jump on it for time sake. Most likely the deal with be here tomorrow.

They're always having problems. http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/ and those are just the reported problems.

I've used them for 5 years and never had any issues

It's really hit or miss. There are some servers like Batman that are constantly having problems.

Their 777 deal has been on for the past year or so. They just change the title for each upcoming holiday. I registered with them a couple months ago. It was fine at first, 9.24 for hosting and domain was a great deal. However, downtimes started to happen, functions started to not work properly, etc. I don't use the web panel much, but when I finally did to change my billing information and such, it would NOT update properly, even though it said it saved. So if you're not using it for something important, then go with them; if you are, skip this.

The information that posted is all there is. I signed up. I already had a dreamhost account paying 10 dollars a month and I'm very happy with them. I prepaid for a year. I also bought this special last night.

It is 1 year and a new domain registration for 10 dollars. Hell, I might even buy another with a different credit card. I'm assuming that after a year, it would go to regular price.

Meaning, that they will send you a bill or turn you off. Why in the world would they give away a loss-leader such as this if they didn't want to keep you?

Now for those who are obviously lazy and don't want to read the website, I just gave you a summary of their summary? What next, Spanish?

If you want a Spanish translation let me know, I'll be happy to oblige.

Have you asked them to move your account to a different server?

edit:

Sorry, this was in response to the poster who said the server batman was always having problems.

I haven't noticed issues with their service but I don't monitor my sites 24/7.

It's 10 dollars for a year's domain registration and all the bandwidth you can muster. What beats that? Even if a server goes down once in while, they do fix them, don't they?

how do i use this deal as a current customer? Would love to renew for another year at this promo price

I just signed up two new domains and two new hosting plans - I want different IP's. I used two different credit cards - that is what they check. I signed them up 12 hours apart and they are on shared hosting but different IP's.

Can anyone else verify this is the case? I would love to take advantage of a promo price but I've been a customer for 6 years, and it doesn't appear they offer anything for renewals.
Do they just check credit card numbers or will they catch it if you try to host the same domain names?

You also cannot host a domain on a promo like this if the domain has been used with a previous promo plan. They also check for that.
