I wouldn't bother man, stick with the eneloops. I think the rayovac are just good for people who don't already have eneloops and want to try something out I guess. I just recommend the eneloop to everyone.
Also apparantly according to Rayovac, these batteries as mentioned in the OP have lithium mixed into the electrolyte, but do not have a lithium anode. I'm not sure if Rayovac hybrids have that technology in them. I'll google search it but I doubt I'll come up with anything. I understand Eneloops are good. But how can you be surprised someone is trying to find the same thing (or virtually the same thing) for less money? Especially on fatwallet! |

I was at the Renton Fry's yesterday looking for those AAA. Unfortunately, they were sold out but I can confirm that the price was $3.49 which is EXCELLENT for a 4 pack of AAA NiMH let alone a LSD one. |

I confirmed with the manufacturer that the Rayovac 4.0 have the same chemicals inside as the Rayovac Hybrids, which is cool to me since I own the hybrid batteries and heard that the 4.0 have lithium mixed in with the electrolyte. I just charged all 8 of my AA but I have so freaking many NiMH now I don't know what to do with them all......... |

Sometimes I like to think how silly I am. A few Dollars are really not big deal. (One can loss thousands even tens of thousands times more of money during the market down turn). However, I just cannot help trying to find out about truth/facts of something or anything, no matter how small it is. Cheers. |

I guess it is less money if you're buying per pack but the costco eneloops come with a charger and 12 batteries. I think the rayovac is a good deal for someone who already has a charger and hasn't bought any hybrids yet though. I got my rayovac ones when there was a FAR deal on here, 8 of them for free can't beat that at all I'm not sure how well they work now though since I've neglected them for so long. |

twinclouds said: Could you point the tech reviews that you mentioned? I am interested in reading them. Thanks. Sorry, I don't remember where exactly. I do recall a poster on slick deals by the name of "stereodude" being adamant about the Eneloop being better, referencing some tests and perhaps linking to more discussion on another forum. It may well have been that candlepower site posted above. As much as I wanted to believe the Rayovac Hybrids were every bit the equal (because I just bought them and it was a better price than Eneloops), whatever info I came across at the time mostly convinced me that the Eneloops still had a bit of and edge. In practice, it seems to be true too. The Eneloops have performed a little better. But.. it could be some sort of placebo or expectation effect, can't say for sure. |

I am thinking not. In my store at least(DOWNERS GROVE, IL.), they had them stocked in a standalone floor displayer/rack which looked to be in like new condition and all these batteries looked to be new as well. As if this was a new promo and not a close out deal of some kind. Unfortunately, only AA though. No AAA anywhere to be found. |

twinclouds said:I googled around and found this: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=149804. Looks like the reviewer felt that the Hybrids are not as good as Eneloop but from his 180 day test, the differences are not that large. They seem to discharge a lot faster than the eneloops to me, which is why I bought eneloops..but I got all mine FAR anyways so no big deal.. I am going to try testing them out again, I have way too many rechargables now.. |
