The real advantage is for us Northern types that only mow 7 months out of the year , propane doesn't have any of the storage issues that regular gasoline fuel does.

Also consider the waste produced by the fuel tanks for the propane (yes they are recyclable but think of the number of people who won't recycle them and the amount of waste the recycling plant will create).
Also note, these are a good deal heavier than normal weed wackers (16 pounds). Great price if you're in the market though. Where would one recycle that tank? |

I picked up a straight shaft version at my local HD (Orlando) last night. They had at least 12 (mostly curved) and there seemed to be NO rush on them. I assembled the unit and added the engine oil (less than was recommended). This is a 4-cycle engine and overfilling can severly damage the motor ... so I drained some oil to get the level between "low" and "high". My intial impressions are mostly positive ... high quality, excellent design but very heavy. I'll try it out this afternoon and report back. |

What? The deal was already posted. If there are more good deals, then shouldn't new threads be posted? good grief will you shutup already? assembled mine yesterday. took about 12-15 cranks to get it going the first time. it was strange; you're expecting the engine to really kick in after it initially starts up, but then you realize that's as loud as it gets until you pull the trigger. yes it does have some heft to it, but the shoulder strap works well enough. if you plan on using it for more extended periods of time, i'd recommend rigging it up with some more padding. a 2.5 oz bottle of oil is included, and the manual calls for 2.7. not sure why everyone isn't using the recommended amount per what the manual states. i noticed no leakage. |

Which Home Depot in Orlando has these trimmers? Also, any stores in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale have them? |

Also, any stores in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale have them? If you really want in on this deal then do what I did ...
1) Locate your nearest HD store 2) Call your local HD store 3) Ask the lawn/garden department if they have these in stock 4) If the answer to #3 above is "yes" then get in car and go down to that HD store 5) Buy the trimmer I believe that most HD in this area have these units. Invest a few minute ... you might be pleasantly surprised.

Anyone have a sku? My ft laud store (hah) didn't have them in stock, clerk locked up trying to understand how "my buddy in Georgia" possibly could have bought one since after 10 minutes of me asking if she could check other store stock, she found it said "online only" at HD.com |

I've checked a few stores in CA and I don't think they carry them here, I have only seen these propane trimmers at Sears and ACE. |

For everyone who bought what are you thoughts of this product, do i make the jump to a propane powered device? Thanks. I'm looking for the straight model but that's a great start. So based on that model # - this is NOT the detachable shaft version... |

i trimmed/destroyed quite a bit yesterday. took me a lot longer than usual since it was the first time i've weedeated at the house (5 weeks). One of the strings broke off and i didnt feel like fixing it in the middle of trimming, so i used it with one string for a lot of thick stuff and it worked dam good. has tons of power and handled most everything in its path (except the 5 ft tall tree-weed i attempted). you don't smell like burned oil when you're done, either |

I tried mine last night and got it started after about 6 pulls. It has a lot of power but is awfully heavy. Lehr is getting ready to start selling a propane-powered blower. if it can be bought for what I paid for the trimmer I'm in! |
