Very nice trimmer, my first 4 cycle and it has much more torque and is much quieter. I let it idle for about 5 min to circulate the oil and I just stayed in the garage with it. Sure I was adding carbon monoxide to the garage, but beyond that it was a very clean exhaust! Now, how about a portable propane pressure washer that runs off a 20lb tank! |

I picked up the last one in Greenwood, IN on Thursday. I noticed that the new manual is listed on the Lehr website and it now has the oil amount at 1.7oz, which goes along with what everyone has been saying. I'm a tinkerer, so I tore into the unit a little today. I noticed that the gaps between the rockers and the valve stems were out of spec per the manual, so I had to tighten them up. I also got rid of the 'safety trigger'. My 20 year old Echo that I retired didn't have this (or need it for that matter), and it was getting pretty annoying. Next on the agenda is cutting off that weird protrusion on the handle. What's the idea behind that thing anyway? When I had the plastic off of the engine I noticed a symbol that matched the one on the dual line bump-feed head. On the head it had the name of (presumably) the Chinese manufacturer. I can't remember the name off the top of my head, and to be honest I'd have to write it down to get the spelling correct Maybe this could allow us to find out if any other trimmers use an engine (gas powered of course) from this manufacturer and we could get an idea of how reliable our new engines might be. I will say that the trimmer has some power. I cut some large weeds right after a heavy rain and it did very well. About the only time it would bog down was when the line would wrap around a small tree instead of cutting through it. |
