Which is a better vac, this one or the Whisper that WalMart has for $98

Cycloneman,

What's your take on this one?

+1

there's a Mach 6, if that makes any indication?

I found this post by Cycloneman in another thread

"If anyone is interested, the Hoover Mach 3 and the Hoover Whisper do not operate in the same way. The Whisper is far more efficient at removing the fine dust from the airstream, AND the Whisper does not require the user to clean the hair/fluff from the tip of the inner cone with each emptying. The Whisper collects far more fine dust and keeps it away from the pre-motor filter far longer than the Mach series. The Mach 3's brush bar continues to rotate even when you don't want it to. Like when cleaning bare floors or using the attachments. You must tip the Mach 3 backwards to keep from damaging the carpet while using the attachments. Whisper has two motors (the SAME motors as used in V2 and Savvy models), so the brush bar stops when using the attachments and for bare floor cleaning. The Whisper is very solidly made, you could run it into walls and not damage it.

The Whisper also has a true, sealed Hepa filter on the exhaust end of the machine. The Mach 3 does not. Allergy sufferers would find relief with the Whisper, but not the Mach 3. The brush bar used on Whisper has somewhat softer brushes than the Mach series. Anyone with expensive or delicate rugs would do well to buy the Whisper over the Mach series, the brush on "mach" are like little needles, tearing at the carpet, and are not recommended for Berber carpets, wool carpets, or Frieze. The Mach series also needs new belts, which the Whisper model does not require on a normal basis (barring accidents)."

Thank you for finding that, bmobrien! Good to know
