Anyone know the instore price? I won't be there till Saturday.

I have never an OOMA in a Costco B&M.(Maryland area)

I've had Ooma since January and couldn't be happier. Much better connection quality than I had with Vonage over the past 5 years and no monthly bills.

According to Ooma's website, certain B&M locations sell Ooma for $199. They have a listing on their (Ooma's) website listing which ones have it at that special price. However, I believe most stores have it for around $250.

I can't see the list of 20 locations when I click on that link for certain reason. May be it is only for existing subscribers as it is related to referral. Can anybody who can see that - post names of those costco locations here. Am driving from Richmond to New York this weekend and can pick one if it is one the way.

Ok Found it here- http://blog.ooma.com/2009/06/23/costco-refer-a-friend/
Anchorage, AK
Waipahu, HI
Anchorage, AK
Oak Brook, IL
Phoenix, AZ
Gaithersburg, MD
Alhambra, CA
Bloomfield, MI
Chula Vista, CA
Clackamas, OR
Folsom, CA
Houston, TX
Rancho Cucamonga, CA
San Antonio, TX
South San Francisco, CA
Arlington, VA
East Jacksonville, FL
Tukwila, WA
Naples, FL
Bayamon, Puerto Rico

The URL they give for the list of locations doesn't work (link -> http://www.ooma.com/costco/). It redirects to the OOMA home page.

That said - I looked for one in a Costco B&M (NYC, Brooklyn and Staten Island) and didn't see one. This is going a few months back. Might try and call Ooma customer service later and see if they have one in store. $30 for shipping seems a bit unreasonable, especially when it's going to cost an additional $39.99 to port my home number over.

what happens after $50 in international credit runs out ?! ty!

The OP and the second poster are talking about different deals.

The second poster is linking to a special referral offer. It is selling the core unit for $199 in limited markets and ends July 11th. pashu posted a list of the markets it is available in. It must be purchased in store. The referrer gets the $50 international credit or 6 months premier service for free.

The OP is talking about an online coupon deal being offered from 7/13-8/2 (or while supplies last) for costco.com. It is for a completely different item number. It can be found here right now, but the coupon doesn't apply yet.

It is for the core system + scout + 6 months of premiere service + $50 in international calling for $299, and from 7/13-8/2 there is a $70 off coupon making it $229. Since it is online, you don't actually need the physical coupon.

So, which is a better deal? Ooma core unit for $199 OR the Ooma core + scout + 6 months of premiere service + $50 in international calling for $229?

I'd say get the scout for 30 bucks extra. Although they don't go for much on eBay.

Thanks for the response.
- Why does one need the Ooma Scout? I don't really need a second phone line.
- Is the porting of the exisiting phone-number included with the 6 month-trial of the premiere service? I do need this.

with the 6-month premiere service, can we port our numbers for free?

I'd like to know too. Need to park my number somewhere.

I was told they offer free porting only if you sign up for an annual Premier subscription ($99), otherwise it is $39.99 to port. They would not pro-rate for the 6 free months, but would add it to the total time.

From what I have read its the same thing that number porting is not free with the 6 months from costco (I know it sucks).

So if you pay $99 more ontop you get 1.5 years of Premier and get to port the number for free? I guess thats okay. The biggest advantage of buying from Costco is their return policy, especially on a product like this.

Isn't Costco's return policy on electronics 90-days these days?

Consider waiting until the new Ooma comes out this year. OR...buy from Costco and return it for the new one when it comes out? Anyone know if this full under the general return policy?

edit: Agreed, return policy is a definite for this. I've been meaning to try it for my parents house, but I tried the demo in the Frys here in Dallas and it didn't sound good. I blame the internet connection it was on, but that was unnacceptable. I will buy from costcos one of these days and give it a shot.

I cannot confirm, but I believe it's only on laptops, big screens, digital cameras, and a few more SPECIFIC electronics. If you buy an inflatable santa from the home section, you can take it back in ten years like a true cheapskate, AFAIK.

Thanks for clarification. Where can I find the on-line coupon code for 7/13-8/2 deal?

Amazon is 217.50 and no tax........I bought for $190 5 months back with $50 international credit from Buy.com
If you wait few days and keep checking, you will find price below $200. Don't pay the extra dollars.......

I purchased ooma from costco the last time they had this deal. It is a great product. Note that Amazon has this for 229 also with no tax and free shipping. The premium trial is not as long but not worth the extra premium of tax and shipping in my opinion. I also subscribe to the premium service and pay annually which brings the monthly rate down to around $8 / month and they will port your number free with the annual payment.

<<oh, I see the poster above me beat me to it...>>

Whats the release date for new one?

Yea, the new Ooma Telo is supposed to come out this year, I've been DYING to get the Core/Scout but when I found out about the Telo I figured I'd wait. I hear its supposed to come out around August.

You won't need a code. The price at costco.com will just reflect the coupon, while supplies last, during those dates.

Thanks

It's live.

CompUSA has it for $249.99 - $40.02 instant savings = $209.97.

6 % Cash Back from Fat Wallet today = $12.60 off for total of $197.37

Shipping runs $1.99 plus tax here in NC.

I got the box today and there was no mention of $50 international credit. Does it get automatically applied?

Me too, Anyone had try and got the $50 international calling credit?

I'm having the same problem. Received the unit yesterday -- working great. However, I found no mention of the $50 international credit anywhere and there was no credit in my account after activating. I called Ooma -- they said to call Costco. I called Costco and they said they would call me back. Hm. Strange. Anybody had any luck with the $50 international credit?

I did not see the credit first. I called OOMA. It is under Account->service page. It showed $50 balance in my account.

Just received my Ooma yesterday and my account shows the $50 credit. However am very disappointed w/ the sound quality - there's constant static. Will play around with it but if it doesn't get any better, its going back. I know it can't be my cable line because I also use tmobile@home VOIP and that sounds perfect.

Also costco ad NOW reads
"*Credit applied to customer Ooma account and expires after 90 days. If the credit has not been depleted prior to expiration date, please contact Ooma for extension."
seems to indicate you can call and get that expiration date extended again, YMMV

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11485914

It now reads (probably updated now):

* $50 International Calling Credit **Unlimited U.S. calling in the U.S.

*Credit applied to customer Ooma account and expires after 180 days. If the credit has not been depleted prior to expiration date, please contact Ooma for extension.

That's good news! Back to 6 months as you said. Thanks.
