My trailer cost less than that lazy-boy. $ 2500 ? Hell you can't even sleep on it unless you got a 12 pack inya. Probable cool for the dog but I get his furniture on the 1st Saturday of the month when the trash guys will take furniture. I go out early for a good score. May cost 10 bucks to borrow a pick-up for something that will last a year or until the dog has puppies.

$2500 is a decent price for the authentic HM Eames set. If the stars align, you can get it closed to $2250 but that's very rare. Overpriced for sure. But still an iconic piece of furniture (part of the MoMA permanent collection). I own two.

I got half a dozen Lay-Z-Boys and never paid more than 50 bucks. Like New.
I have a high quality knockoff version I bought at a thrift shop for $80. My favorite reading chair. If I could afford it I probably would by the original HM version.

Great deal for an Eames. If you think it's overpriced, the chair is not for you.

By the way, I think the OP should put "Copy from SD" in your post because of this --> SD linky (at least it seems to me that the other thread was posted before this one).
It may be twice as expensive as even the biggest leather La-Z-Boy® models, & unlike (some) L.Z.B.'s, it's top cushion isn't nearly tall enough to support my head, but I really wish I could afford to buy one of these. It looks so solid & comfortable, low profile, simple, easy to move around, in such a handsome design. And H.M. is obviously tops in quality.
Nice price and a MCM icon. We actually have a couple of "knock-off" versions (j/k) - Ekornes Stressless - they are actually generally styled from this chair but have gone their own direction. Very comfy chairs in their own right - but just as pricey.
so essentially you're just paying an extra $2k for the name?

hey - just wanted to jump in here...for people interested in modern/classic furniture, please check out inmod.com.
i have purchased some stuff from them, and their quality is awesome...they also price their products high (dont expect $100 knock-offs)...i recently purchased the 'egg' chair from them for about $1k - awesome and honestly no one can tell the difference...
back to the deal, here is the same chair as OP at inmod...
note - please dont treat this post as a thread-crap...obviously a knock-off is a knock-off and can never compare 100% with an original...but for people who like timeless furniture but cant afford to pay the high price, this website presents a good alternative...
Having owned several Eames, Barcelona, and other classic modern pieces, 99.9% of the population hasn't a clue what they are and couldn't spot an 'original' Herman Miller if their life depended on it. I use the term 'original' very loosely because technically it too is a knockoff of the original, the Eames brothers are both long gone.
It's all about the leather, not the brand, I am looking at my supple white leather 'knockoff' next to me which has the finest leather out of all I've owned, found it on eBay from a guy in Colorado Springs for $850. Absolutely perfect, gorgeous.

Exactly. Contrary to those who think the more you pay the better the quality. The design is NOT trademarked. Many copies of this design are the same quality for WAY less money. Over $2000 for this is a joke. The reason people can't "spot" an original is because there is little or no difference between the original and the copy as long as the leather is same quality. And the leather certainly isn't worth $1500.
One of the best furniture designs ever - looks amazing from any angle and surprisingly comfortable. Unlike most pieces of furniture, at this price you could buy it, enjoy it for a few years, and then get back almost all of your money on eBay if you decide to sell it. I've never regretted mine - in fact it's about the last piece of furniture I'd give up.

I'd bet many of those complaining about this deal are the ones that will pay hundreds of dollars for a pair of "designer" jeans and swear they are worth every cent.
Good post OP and a very good price. I love mine and am considering adding another. The price is making it very tempting.

Sure you owned several! I also own the Brooklyn bridge that I bought from the Indians for some wampums and beads. How about some pics to prove your delusional claims?
Herman Miller is a quality brand! I've seen several knock offs in the $800-$1000 range but the leather and wood finish will never come close to the original. I'd love to own one of these some day, till then I'm stuck with my HM Aeron knockoff ... silly, I can't even afford one of those
Nice deal. If you're a diy type of person, I've seen authentic Eames chairs on Craigslist for under $500 that require a little attention to the wood and new upholstery, but this is a fine deal for a new one. It's a shame that more of the modern classics aren't still in reproduction. I absolutely love Danish Modern and it's like pulling teeth to find any good stuff these days, especially sectionals.

To which Eames brothers are you referring? Charles and Ray were husband and wife...
P.T. what about Stressless recliners? Probably not quite as nice as E.B. but their models come in s, m, & l sizes so they can fit you (reach your head), & look real comfortable & stylish too. I am surprised to find laminated wood on the E.B., but still can't figure out why this type of chair makes people so angry.
The thing with those $1000 knockoffs is in about five years they will be starting to pop a seam, strip a bolt, etc. etc, and in ten years be ready for the junk yard or thrift store if you're lucky.
You spend $2500 on the real thing, and don't have a heap of kids tearing it up, in ten years it will probably be worth about the same amount.
Wow, crazy high quality chair at a good price. My wife just peered over my shoulder as I clicked on the link. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing one of these. She just doesn't get it
I've always loved these chairs. Too bad even the $1000 knock off is beyond what I'd like to pay for a chair. Too bad because I think these chairs look awesome.

what's the difference between this and a $500 very comfy ikea set?
