I always mispronounced the name when I was a kid, but I've actually never been there. Might have to give it a shot.

great burgers IMO, their fixings bar lets you pile on all kinds of good stuff on your burger or chicken sandwich.

FYI...Select locations only.

Thanks OP!

Every location but one (Salt Lake City) was awesome. For some reason the "chef" at the Fuddrucker's in SLC thought that medium rare meant light pink center. What a f*n moron. Most Fuddrucker's have a chart with a picture and description stating what each level of doneness means. And medium rare (in the US) means warm RED center.

Oh, so yeah, every other location I've been at cooked the burger perfectly and they use very freshly ground meat. If you have never been you need to try it at least once. And the fixin's bar is awesome...brings back memories of Roy Roger's (burger/roast beef/fried chicken chain) from when I was kid. Oh look, they're still in business!

EDIT: Hmmm, I mention how great the chain is, save one location, and give the OP green and someone gives me red? Are you that chef from SLC? *laugh*

My work's internet filter blocks the Fudds Club website. The reason given is "social networking". This make perfect sense; why go through all the hassle of facebook when you can catch up with your high school friends through Fudds Club?

Hmm, is it just me, or does the name sound like something out of the movie Idiocracy?

Their buffalo burger is the best I have ever eaten. We finally have a Fudds open near us so no more wishing for one, now just wishing I made more money to support my Fudds addiction.

Thanks MC!

At these places, you want your burger well done...

The last time I was at one...earlier this year, they were still trying to push how fresh their meat is. Most of them have large glass panes allowing you to see into their prep area. And they have on display trays of meat that are date stamped. And I would imagine if you get there at the right time of day you can watch them grind and form the patties. I suppose that could vary by location, but all of the Fudd's I've been to have that (UT, PA, NJ, SC, GA).

Is there anyone who has ever worked at a Fuddrucker's that can give us some insight into the freshness of the meat? Well, anyone except the angry chef from SLC, that is....

When I went for the first time a year or so ago I was disappointed in the bar. Please explain to me what is great about the bar. I saw the usual toppings, as much as you want but the usual. I DONT recall seeing bacon, mushrooms, sauteed onions, cheeses etc... on the bar. If I want extra lettuce on my burger I can ask for it I don't need to get it myself. From what I remember they didnt have trays either, for me to get my families entire order at once.

I'm such a cheap-ass that I only order some fries and build myself a salad bar from the bar.

How long does it take after signing up to receive the coupon via email?

Please explain to me what is great about the bar.

Cheesy cheese sauce for your burger and fries.

Still go to the original Fudds in SA near the airport a few times a year...

I signed up and got a welcome to Fudruckers email, but no coupons so far.

Best hamburgers anywhere - puts Five Guys to shame.

Best burger in town, great value overall. Love the shakes too.

Five Guys still has best fries however (and also a good value).

PDS

here is the coupon---YMMV on using this one,

I just got my email....and the coupon is for a free brownie with purchase.....I don't think the brownie costs $5....

Maybe the $5 off coupon is for certain regions only?

This reminds me of the movie "Idiocracy" and how FUDDRUCKERS name began changing over time as people got dumber and dumber.

went once as a kid, and then again last week, great burgers! if i had remembered them being so good, i'd have been visiting more often.

as for the medium-rare comment, i don't know about other states, but CA health code requires restaurants to cook ground beef to a certain min temperature. that means medium is the lowest that any restaurant is allowed to cook it, without facing fines.

shoot,I just went to the one in Saugus a few days ago and spent 45bucks
I have to agree, they are much better than 5 guys.
they are close to the same price as well.
one thing to add, get a shake with the burger, shakes are great there

I must ask...do you have any proof of this?

I only ask because during the e. coli scare of 1993, where a few kids died because of eating raw (not undercooked, partially raw!) burgers at Jack in the Box, many restaurants here in PA decided that there was some new "law" about not being able to server a burger cooked less than medium. This turned out to be completely false, even though about 1/3 of the restaurants I went to around that time swore there was a law. I came across the USDA recommendation on safe cooking of ground beef & hamburger though:
http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Factsheets/Ground_Beef_and_Food_Safety/...

Notice they are "recommendations" and not laws. Hence the warning on many menus that says:
"Consuming raw or undercooked meat, poultry, eggs, shellfish, or seafood may increase your risk of foodborne illness."

Does anyone remember when Wendy's used to cook your burgers to order?

Honestly, I just browsed this topic to make a joke about idiocracy but was beat to it..... I am remiss to discount the opinions of others, and I don't expect that my own two cents will change the minds of anyone who already likes Fuddruckers. But to those who think they might give it a try for the first time - save your money! The burgers are average at best, and the condiments bar is bland bland bland.

I agree the condiments bar is average, but the quality of the meat is way, way above any other chain out there.
