In my opinion, I think Montague is better than Dahon. I actually planned to buy a Dahon Jack, but after compared it with the Montague CX, I think Montague is better especially when you ride uphill because of the wide range. However, I am not an expert, I just try to get what I need and tried to spend as less as possible.
Why go through all the mumbo jumbo when you can get it CHEAPER at RideTHISbike.com - without the fuss.
Even if you buy the bike via the Bing rebate and unbeatable.com, it can take as long as 2 months (it's in Bing's fine print) to get your rebate. Plus you still have to pay $59.95 for shipping. So the total cost (if you get the rebate) is actually $544.43 whereas Ridethisbike.com sells the bike for $529 with free shipping...
Regarding a comparison of Montague and Dahon bicycles...
Montague Folding Bikes All the Montague folding bikes are fitted with 26" wheels and based on the same folding mechanism and frame. The design was funded by a large grant from the Pentagon so a bike could be created that would be strong and compact enough for troops to parachute into the battlefield with the mountain bike strapped to them. As a result, the Montague bikes will take a real beating.
Dahon Folding Bikes Although Dahon specializes in folding bikes with smaller wheels, they currently offer 2 models that could be considered mountain bikes - the Jack and the Flo. The Jack is a folding bike; the Flo is a take apart bike. The Jack weighs about the same as the Montague but it has only 7 speeds and folds larger. The Flo weighs slightly less than the Montague and has features like the Montague (front suspension fork, disc brakes, hardtail). The key difference between the Montague bikes and the Dahon Flo is that you must disassemble the Flo to make it compact whereas the Montague frame folds via a quick release. In other words, you can fold the Montague in seconds whereas the Flo takes a couple of minutes. The Dahon products tend to cost more too.

I'd love to have a lightweight foldable bike but this thing weighs 29#s.
What a joke. My $500 roadbike weighs 18#s.
Also it doesn't seem to roll when it is folded like the Strida bike so not terribly convenient to take on a subway. I guess it's for people with small trunks or seats that don't fold down.
For flying, I think S&S machine couplings are the way to go: http://www.sandsmachine.com/
Then I can pack my road bike for triathlon in Kona

Rear Sprocket was acquired at repair shop at Local REI , cannot remember where I got the front sprocket but it's high gear is a 52 count
Runs about 20 mph on the flat without much effort (I weigh 145lbs BTW)with some effort it hits 24-26 MPH on the flat. Not that difficult to install but is not cheap, the BionX system is one of the best systems out there, I got the 24v Lithium/250 watt motor system with throttle, the battery alone costs $700 to replace last time I checked
BionX is cool but I wonder how efficient it is. I can easily go 20-25mph on my roadbike on flats with no battery. Up 10-15% grade, I think the system would just be dead weight. Cool if you are handicapped and can't pedal. I think only a gas engine would have enough power to make up for the added weight (18# bike vs 50-60# battery bike) uphill.
I go home for lunch with my BionX assisted bike, without it, there would be no way that I could do this since I would be sweating like a pig and no showers are provided at my workplace. It does have a purpose.
