I just called DirecTv, and as an existing customer (who has been loyal since before they were even Directv), they "could not offer me the promotion". My current plan for NFL ticket only is $44.99/mo. for 6 months($269.94). BUMMER! Was really hoping to get the promotion.
Just called, got the same offer as others for $44.99 for Sunday ticket and $16.95 for Superfan. Asked to be switched to cancellation where they were able to offer... Sunday Ticket for $24.69 / month for 6 months Free Superfan Free Showtime for 6 months
Looks to be the best deal for existing customers....
Didn't have as much luck as Boss or lawadvocate. They offered me $ 10.00 a month off & free superfan. Better than nothing though I guess. Must be something related to living in the Midwest maybe where the recession isn't as bad. Who knows?
Got in as a new customer. $59.99 with Sunday ticket w/ Premier Package, 1 HD DVR receiver ($10 hd service) and standard receivers($5 each). Comes out to $84.99 for 1st 5 months plus tax.
After reading this forum & another one just like it on here, I called last night and it went like this....
I started right off saying that "I need to downgrade my programming so that I can afford Sunday Ticket." I was transferred to "Premium Services." I told the lady there the same thing. She started off offering me $5 off my Showtime subscription for 6 months. I politely told her that didn't scratch the surface. She then offered me $10 off a month for 6 months on the Sunday Ticket and free SuperFan along with the $5 off Showtime. I asked her what that would make my bill. She said it would make it $106 and some change. I then told her that I really wanted to keep my bill under $100. She took maybe 15 seconds and then offered me $20 off a month for 6 months on Sunday Ticket, along with free SuperFan, and the $5 off Showtime for 6 months.
She didn't put me on hold once. She didn't even mention how long I've been a customer (signed up in March of '09). I truly believe that being as polite and friendly as possible went a long way. I also think sounding as pathetic and broke as I could helped.
All in all I got Sunday Ticket w/ SuperFan for $145. I'm thrilled. Thanks so much OP.

DaddyCulver, major reps to you! I called 3-4 times last night. Key is to ask directly for the retention department. I have been a directv customer for many years and I got the guy to give me $59.95 deal (HD/DVR service is $10 and $6 extra respectively), but net is my bill is going to be the same as it was before the NFL billings were starting and now will have what amounts to free upgrade to Premier package and FREE NFL Sunday Ticket/SuperFan!!

I found a deal online that seems pretty good. 5 months, it's: $59.99 gets you PREMIER and Sunday Ticket in SD (no SuperFan) $69.99 gets you PREMIER in HD and Sunday Ticket in SD (No SuperFan) $89.99 gets you PREMIER in HD, Sunday Ticket in HD and SuperFan in HD Plus free HD DVR
I got a call out of the blue from DTV thanking me for being a loyal customer. I was offered the same package as a new customer (pay $59.99 for Sunday Ticket, get premier programming free). This was $6 more than I had been paying, so they offered to waive the DVR fee for the same period, making it an even swap. Paying what I was with free Sunday Ticket. I asked for the catch, they said none. They did say that since I had a plan no longer offered, after this promotion, I'd have to join a current plan (I suppose less channels for more money?). I had been hanging on to the plan as a last bargaining chip, since they'd tried to take it for me before and I explained in a tough economy I was not going to pay $4 more per month to receive less programming (it worked). By the end of the call, I realized I was not talking to DTV, but a telemarketer. My twin bro who lives in St. Louis tried to call and get the same thing from DTV and they couldn't match the offer (despite pulling up my acct and verifying the deal). They recommended he call the telemarketer directly and gave him the phone #! Now he's pissed b/c he can't get the same deal another long time customer got who didn't even ask for it. He's subsequently called back again and still no dice. I guess I just got lucky that the telemarketer picked me to call (and that my wife wasn't the one who answered ).

Decided to give this a go and went through the normal motions with the first two people before I got to cancellations. I was very nice and explained that I needed to reduce my monthly bill and could not comprehend how a new customer could get the deal but a loyal customer was getting hammered for $100 for regular service. First offer was $10 per month for 12 months, said no and repeated my argument about new vs loyal. Put on hold again and got offered $20 per month discount if I added Ticket. Said no again and told her I would have to cancel service and repeated my argument about new vs loyal (very politely each time) she agreed that it seemed unfair and put me on hold again. This time she came back and said we can do the new cust deal and politely appologized for all the delay.
In all it took 25+ min but I will save $40 per month over my previous plan and get all of the upgrades (premier+nfl+HD+SF) for 5 months.
Thanks to the FW and all the posters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I called in today about this package their extending to new customers. I told them I have had Directv for a long time(about 7 years), and I have spent a lot of money on their services(I ordered Sunday Ticket last year, NBA League Pass, and I order PPVs every month.) At first, they didn't want to give it to me, so I asked why a loyal customer by myself gets nothing, while new customers get great offers. They said they do it to get new customers. I told them I understand it, but I would like to get to recieve this deal too.
The guy I was talking to, so they wouldn't extend the offer to me. I then told them I would cancel my Directv service(which I was ready to), they then sent me to rentention. I told the lady what I told the guy I just talked to, and she offered me the deal they are giving new customers. I accepted, and that was the end of that.

Just called, got the $59.95/mo knocked down to $39.95/mo and they threw in Superfan for free. I fought with a regular CS rep for 20+ minutes (don't waste your time), asked to be transferred to someone to cancel my service.
I got a wonderful rep named Aaron who listened to my concerns. I explained that in this economy, it was a hard pill to swallow to pay $80 bucks a month for football - and that it seems like they are price gouging customers in these difficult times. The rep did actually say what a previous blogger wrote here in that the NFL has told them to give a break to anyone calling and upset about the pricing, with the economy the way it was. He gave me $20 off per month and the Superfan for free (first offer was $49.99/mo and $85 for Superfan). We haggled for about 10 minutes.
I am an existing customer of DirecTV and I called to cancel my service unless they give my a discount on NFL Sunday Ticket. The CSR gave me the package for $269 plus tax and then credited me $200 plus tax..so I got it for $69 today.
