DVP-5990, currently $49.99 at Dell with free shipping.
I know is the not the lowest price people are talking for a long time, such as $39.99 DVP-5992 at costo, etc. However, it is not a bad price if you need one soon.
Does anyone own this currently? I got the equivalent samsung brand and the player was pretty darn loud. I bought it for the bedroom and I could hear the disc spinning in the samsung.

I got the old 1080i model for $20 from Woot a few months ago.

I have it and that is not an issue (I have a 5990 and a 5992). I use it with my portable hard drive and it has enough power to play that so you can watch movies using the USB port.
Modded firmware is alot nicer than OEM, would def recommend

I've got 2 of these without the USB plug though. Very quiet and I absolutely love them. The last DVD players I will ever get before I move onto Popcorn Hour.
It has been considered the best DVD player so far with USB 2.0 connection. I have 3 of them and loved them. After attaching a portable hard drive with hundreds of DivX movies, I have been watching them as if I have my own Movie On Demand service. Highly recommended. I will definitely get Dell new ones vs. eBay refurb for the same price.
I think WDHD TV is a better solution, I have one of this bought for 25 dollars during old Phillips Refurbished days and haven ot watched a movie in last 3 months on this.
the only prb with this model (is the prb i have) where the hdmi port seems to burn out easily and then everything is orange in color. component still looks great but the hdmi output isnt working. after searching this appears to be a relatively common prb.

I bought one back in 2008 sometime and paid 50! I can't believe these are still on sale for the same price (sans a few Woot $20 refurb units).
Regardless, it's a great player. I would recommend it to everyone who's looking for a DVD player with DivX. Upconversion looks great too.
Great player! Also, it is easily hackable to region free by typing a code in using the remote. This means, with jsut the input of the code, you can watch dvd's from around the world with no issues. I am a big foreign movie fan, and watch several region 2 and region 3 dvd's on mine with no issues.

I got the WD TV and the 5990. WD TV can play more formats but the 5990 plays my old DVD collection. I also like the slim form factor of the 5990 and how it matches the rest of my AV equipment.

Depending on your choice of film "genres" in the bedroom, I would think pretty darn loud could be a plus...

Does anyone know if you can watch a DVD rip via the USB port with this player? I bought one and ripped a DVD and copied it to a USB flash drive but it doesn't seem to recognize it. But plays Divx files just fine and they look great.

You should be able to play VOB files off the DVD rip if you just ripped it as files, but you won't get the DVD menu and it doesn't recognize ISO format.

Ok thanks I got it to play some VOB files but it didn't seem like the were in the right order or something...I'll just have to play around with it, but too bad it doesn't show the proper DVD menu.
