I was in Wal-Mart today on another matter and saw these Magnavox Blu-Ray players for $98. One one shelf they were originally $198 and the other day I was there and they were down $128 and almost bought it then. Now they are $98 so I got one.
It is model NB500MGX.
I'm not saying it is a top of the line model with fancy features, and is probably not for the picky video enthusiasts, but for $98 it is hard to beat.
Here is the link to the product page and you can search for local stock. Listed for $168 on the site. Always
edit: for some reason the referred link is not working, copy/paste this URL in the browser http://www.WalMart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10825995
This is probably the single worst Blu-Ray player on the market. You're going to run into a number of incompatibility problems with this (discs either won't play, or will have some issues). No BD-Live.
I'd save the frustration over trying to deal with this player and avoid it.

Just sharing my $.02 to those on the fence.

I picked up the $98 one from WalMart for my bedroom tv, so far not bad. I basically wanted an up converting dvd player for the bedroom, I use PS3 on my main tv.
Great unit. I got the 530GX last Friday night for $98 in Chino,CA. This unit is much faster than my Sony BDP-S300.
Magnavox 15 secs to open tray from time of pressing open tray button when unit power is off. From tray closing with BD disc - 35 seconds to see first BD generated image from disc content.

The NB530MGX is today's Newegg "shell shocker" for 109.99
The MAGNAVOX NB500MGX is by far the best pick, considering the cost/benefit relationship. The player is manufactured by Funai Corp., a japanese manufacturer for Philips. Funai gives full support on Firmware, a new one came out in its site, and is known as major manufacturer of O&M products.

I bought one 3 weeks ago and it's great. Updated the firmware and no problems playing any blu-ray disc I've put in (Bedtime Stories, Valkyrie, Fast and Furious). Here is a great resource on updating the firmware in case you have problems playing any discs. http://forum.blu-ray.com/ . Can't beat a solid player for $98 if you don't care about the online features. The only complaint is that it is slow on recognizing discs, but from what I've read this is a problem on many Blu-Ray players anyway.
Bought a refurbished one for $80. Played a couple DVD movies and the pictures are sharper than my upconverted DVD player. Haven't tried the bluray movies yet.
