The section where the xbox sits is not covered. it is open to the back to allow for air circulation.
But not on the sides. When standing vertically, the 360 will vent on the sides, as well as top and back.
My 360 has vents on the sides, as the back is mostly occupied by the various outputs. I would buy this if it had a better chilling solution, but mine overheats even in the open air

This looks nice as hell but the narrow space is a guaranteed red ring of death.
