I do not agree. They are not the cheapest but if you want the same/similar food for cheaper, try Pei-Wei which is also own by P.F. Chang's. However, with 10% off, the prices will come almost close to Pei-Wei, not to mention additional 10% off for me with my international credit card hehe
With so many good independent family owned Chinese restauarants with reasonable prices and good food, why pay more for mediocre at best food and top dollar prices?

To find the good independent places you have to search through all the bad generic family owned Chinese places.

Thanks OP!!

However, as a Chinese American who loves to cook and have tasted most of the best places in Beijing, I can tell you that any franchise restaurant is not going to be good quality. PF Chang's appeals to Americans primarily because it doesn't just offer the normal selection the other normal chinese places offer. However, they use too much sauce to try to enhance flavor, instead of using proper cooking methods and quality ingredients. Personally, I find the food just too salty.
Also, $12 a dish isn't going to be good Chinese food. If you want truly good Chinese food, look for a place around $15 for meats, $25 for seafood. It should also be at least 75% capacity at 7pm with the majority being Chinese people. Then, it's safe to assume it's a good restaurant.
Many Americans do not particularly like traditional Chinese flavors/dishes, and those places that are packed with Chinese may not appeal to American tastes at all

Pei Wei while cheaper doesn't have a third of the selection as PF Changs. Won Ton soup...sorry, Sichuan Asparagus, can't help you..... and so on and so on. Having said that, at PF's we have experience a number of disappointing entrées...Philips Lemon chicken has been the latest.
OP, thanks for the links and info. I like PF Changs (another one is opening soon in a nearby city.) I know that I;ll appreciate the 10% savings when I dine there. Our bills are often over $50 and the savings can add up. Thanks again.

All this talk about PF Changs made my hungry so went to Panda Express for lunch and line was out the door!

Umm, welcome to America? And burger places appeal to people's love for beef, so what? Talking about PF Chang's at all as any type of true Chinese restaurant makes it seem like you are not aware of how this type of thing works.

When I had good Chinese food, it was actually cheaper than $12, assuming that you were ordering off of the Mandarin side of the menu, since English side of the menu was easily 20% more expensive. Generalization doesn't get you anywhere. This is a good deal.
Yea, I don't really understand it either. The food is ok, but expensive. The appetizers feed 2. And all of their dishes are sauceless. It seems like they bake most of the food because their chicken and beef is pretty dry/tough. That being said and since this isn't a review thread, 10% is much better than nothing. Wish I had it last week since I went there for a birthday.
It's funny when you hear people there say..."Wow, the food is so good, I'm never going back to a normal Chinese restaurant anymore".

Okay, 10% is good for me too for bills over $50. But I signed up on linke.. but did not get the "Warrior Card" (Wonder whats with warrior here, No fights i say No FIGHTS)
The savings is for people that are going to eat there regardless of price, quality, selection, etc. I go to PF Chang's once or twice a year when my sister visits because that's what she likes. I know there are better, but I don't want to drive 150 miles for authentic Chinese food. We just ate at PFC's and our bill was $80 (pre tax/tip) for 4 people. An $8 savings can help cover tax/tip. Here in San Diego, CA, they have a $40 special for two which includes 2 entrees, one appetizer and 2 desserts. Their food is similar to Panda and others but with a little bit better ingredients. The beef is tender and when you order a chicken dish, you actually get a decent amount of chicken; it's not all breading. Thanks OP. I'll be signing up for myself and my sister.

Not sure what part of the country that would be the norm, but here in NoVA, DC, and MD, chicken dishes are $8-$9, pork $9-10, beef $10-$12. If a meat dish cost more than $12, it had to be something very, very special. Seafood dishes are less than $20 unless you are talking about something that feeds more than one, like a whole fish or something. If a place charges more than this, they are catering to a different clientel than traditional Chinese, who are some of the cheapest bunch of SOBs you will ever meet as an ethnic group.
But yea, easiest way to spot a good chinese restaurant is to see how busy it is see how many Chinese are eating there.
Pei Wei actually got rid of its wanton soup for some reason last year. I know this as I lived off it for almost a week on a liquid diet (don't ask). It was exactly like PF Change. Pei Wei is our got to now for take away asian. Like other posters have said, it's almost impossible to find a good Chinese place. They are all either very upscale or taste like the mall food court. Very little middle ground.

It is same as not many Chinese are particularly fond of American Fast Food and large fatty portions of our food. Some people are not interested in going to places to order something that comes in a paper bag, or shout into an intercom to get your order. That is why companies like YUM brands and Mc'd are catering the food to local taste in China. My European friends agree with me that we love to eat big and live happy, even if it cause health issues down the road. I wish to go to PF Chang's more often, but it takes forever to get your food there. The Japanese hibachi grill down the street a whole like quicker, and not as packed with so many people waiting outside.

Next time you go back, check the back of the kitchen and see who is cooking, then you will understand why the food taste baked and without sauce.

The local independent place are garbage because it meant to be fast food, like Mc'd. When was the last time you had a business lunch and order yourself VIP duck?
I love PF Chang's. In my budget, it's one of the affordable restaurant I can dine weekly. I hope they keep the prices up so that I don't have to dine next to some panda express regulars here.
