I've never had any reason to rip a DVD, so clearly I am not an expert---but this has always been my understanding: commercial DVDs are generally copy-protected via CSS encryption. I was under the impression that many free DVD burning/conversion softwares did not handle decryption, so as to avoid legal hassles. With those programs, you have to find a separate program to do the decryption (and there are free options available on the web). Interestingly the OP's software does claim to handle "CSS protected DVDs" as source material, so maybe it's good-to-go.
Apparently this is the SD format, version 4.0, with upgrade to platinum for $25 for HD.
Otherwise, converts and copies, everything I've tried. Record time seems to be 1:1 realtime. I have a CSS copy buster device from eBay (filter) I usually use to record Dvds with Haup Pvr150.
This is first software I've used that copies protected dvds. Currently coping 16x9 version of King Kong, est time 3 hrs. Very easy to use. Default filesize about 20% larger than Apples H264 mov format for avi and mp4.
Update: Just completed. Took 2hrs 20 min to rip 3 hrs 7 min movie. Times YMMV, computer is no barnburner - $20 refurb MSI MB, $60 P4 631 CPU, $10 AR 1 gb HP RAM - mostly for browsing. 7+ gb vob files to 2.25 gb avi (divx). Don't forget to turnoff caption under output options. Output looks awesome.

You should never use an analog setup like that to copy DVDs. Takes longer, more work, much lower quality. In addition to programs like this, there are other freeware options out there to rip encrypted DVDs. With a fast computer and depending on the software used, you can easily rip a DVD, compress the data, and have it ready to burn to a single layer DVD in 30-45 minutes.
Was looking at this for an alternative to Sothink iPod Video Converter. It works, but a lot slower and output options are a bit odd. Sothink will at least call the file the same thing with the new extension.

How to disable closed caption with this DVD rip software?

Um, are these supposed to be real reviews (from the home page)?
Creal bought this "ripping tools just only three days". Whatever that means.
Cena says it gives "fast converting speed to our users.". Notice the "to our users". So, I guess Cena is an employee..
Rest assured though.. since Bill says he "feel very good when I used it". Also, he "don't think there will be better free software recently".

I'm using the program (ripper) to convert a DVD (with CSS already broken) to DivX as I type this message. I want to see if it'll play on my new Samsung 1080P9 DVD player. As far as I can see, it's not "300 to 500" percent greater than real time. I'm using it on my laptop (dual core centrino).
ripped dvd to wm file...does anyone know how to select the non subtitled version to rip...I only saw one english version when selecting the file to rip and it was the director's subtitled version...any help would be appreciated...thanks

under output setting from subtitle dropdown go all the way to end and select disable...also make sure you are choosing wmav1 under audio and video format
I just tried this with my Samsung 1080P9 player which is supposed to play DivX. I converted "Constantine" to DivX and while the converted file seems to play fine on Windows Player, weird artifacts show up in the same places while playing it on the Samsung. Even though I told the program to retain the original aspect ration and size, the player letterboxed it until I changed the player's configuration from wide screen to P&S.
