can you braze copper pipes with this thing? I don't know much about it yet, but I got to braze some copper pipes that will be run under ground.

Not hot. 20 pct off will net a much better deal.

I've owned this for years. It's just ok. Cleaning up spatter is very time consuming. This won't penetrate more than 1/8". Burns through thin stuff. Fine if you're only doing 16-18 ga sheet metal.

icecow: No. but I'd love to someone try it.

I bought this to weld in some metal to my floorpan of a older car. did the job fine. just need to adjust the voltage and use the right wire.

of course flux welding is not the best looking but it will do the job and then you just clean it up with a grinder.

wondering if this will be great on my flux capacitor..?

How do you think they make the flux capacitor?

A little off topic, but...

For general purpose welding jobs (my experience is very limited) I feel like gas/torch is the most flexible application. It seems to me you can more or less do any type of general welding job with a decent torch set up. Anyone have any experince with Harbor Freight's portable gas/torch setup? I know it's not a Victor, but it does go on sale. I think I may have seen it for around $200 on occasion.

I was thinking of welding some bent rebar into a form for a rooftop carrier for my Xterra. I realize there is stuff out there - I would like to add different features to my custom rooftop carrier.

Would this welder be adequate in welding steel rebar to one another as well as a steel plate to rebar for the floor? This will not weld aluminum - right? I am totally clueless about welding - so please be nice.

Supposedly this thing works OK (for a non-gas welder) if you use better quality (non Harbor Freight) wire in it. Or so I've read on various places on the internet.

please don't tell me this is the same frozencow as on avs...
