I have the eee 1000 with the 40GB SSD, and it's really nice not having to worry about spinning magnets.

I'd recommend you spend little bit more and go for 1.6GHz Atom CPU. It makes a BIG difference especially with Win XP.
Dell Outlet has the Mini 9 with Atom 1.6Ghz CPU for $170 with 15% multi-use coupon FD7MS0QJRL??TK, it has a 8GB SSD and 512MB RAM compared to this one 16GB/1GB.

price seems a little high to me too but I've been using one of these since last fall with a lite windows install on it and i have zero performance complaints

Nice computer, I am using one. It boots up fast, has multitouch pad, and the best part - it comes with 20g online storage and automatic backup of yr files which can be accessed fro any computer.
I bumped the RAM to 2G and am able to run multiple apps.
Only downside is that the battery lasts only 3 hours max.

It's really worth it to upgrade to the newer 1005HA series.

> 16 GB ssd in this netbook is extremely slow espeially if you want to install XP on it.< Format the SSD with FAT32 and install Zflashpoint with it and Windows XP SP3 is flying. It actually boot and run almost faster than my work Thinkpad with dual core.
Don't format it with NTFS also create a ramdrive for IE8 cache and it will open IE8 in 2 seconds.

I just cannot see buying one of these with such a tiny drive, unless the price was so incredible, that I would be a fool not too.

I didn't know that FAT32 is faster. So, what are you sacrificing by not going with NTFS?
I quickly glanced through Zflashpoint. I was just wondering how you deal with daily Windows and anti-virus/anti-malware updates? From what I understand Zflashpoint will simply toss out these updates when you shut down your computer.
